Mounted to the large black holder in the trunk, on the driver's side, there is a black metal tool, about 11" long, with a hook on one end and a bent end on the other. Anyone know what this is designed to be used for? Really.....seriously now.
The hook on the one end engages with the scissors jack. The bent end allows you to apply rotary motion to the jackscrew so that the jack will raise up the car. You can find the scissors jack within the spare tire wheel. Might be a good idea for you to see if you can figure out how to operate the jack, before you actually need to use it on the side of the road. While you are digging around in there, it would be good for you to check the spare tire pressure and inflate if it is below 60 psi. Good luck.
Thanks for the info but I knew this. I am referring to some other tool they have in there toward the driver's side. Directly below the trunk light. Any idea?
Are you talking about the rod which holds the 'floor' of the trunk in the open position to gain access the the bottom compartment area so you don't have to manually hold it open?
Maybe I am. That sounds like a possible use for that thing. Thanks. I'll look at the manual again for it.
I think you are referring to the eye hook. It is used to tow the vehicle. On the front bumper is a plug, which you remove and screw the hook into the bumper. You can then safely tow the car by attaching a rope to the hook and tying the rope to the tow vehicle. It works, I tried it.
