I guess we'll have to agree to disagree there. I've ridden in my friend's HCH, and I don't find the interior any better (or worse) than the Prius'. Seats might be a bit more comfortable, but it's a toss-up for me.

Hey, now. That's definitely *unintentional*. A scripting oversight, really. When I first coded the database I didn't think to separate transmission types (just asi I didn't think to separate 2/4WD, etc.) I'm looking to rectify this soon, but it's not intentional, I assure you.

Since the GreenHybrid database makes the transmission type very obvious, John's charges of deliberate obfuscation are off-base.

I did wonder a while back whether the manual transmissions had better FE, and anticipated finding the leaders driving manual transmissions. Although I did not sit down and sort the list into two, I can say that the transmission types seem to be rather evenly distributed through the list. If there is a difference, I will be quite surprised if it is anything but minor.

And I pointed it out to you way back then, as well as the ULEV & SULEV differences. The end of last year, I pointed that out to you again. Now there still isn't even a footnote on the summary page stating that.

Quickly add a simple text footnote about the 3 different models (transmission & emission types) being combined and we'll forget the past.

I have added a note to the bottom of the main mileage database page as a temporary solution. Remember the past however you like... I do not consider you an authority on hybrids. If your PHP/MySQL coding skills and motivation exceed my own, I invite you to make the necessary adjustments to our system. If not, please do not suggest my efforts are intentionally biased and malicious.

If he were deliberately trying to skew the ratings in Honda's favor, he would probably not be driving a Prius as his signature indicates.

Ahh, so it'll still be a 1.3 litre engine. Interesting. And Honda is going all out but we'll see how it does for power. It'll have to have a more powerful battery than the Prius to make up for the lower engine output although, at ~95hp, it's pretty damn powerful for a 1.3.

Not in favor; instead, the effort has been to treat it as an equal.

That's where my "not the same" motto came from, because they are not.

Honda, next to Ferrari, are one of the few engine people able to squeeze the most power out approaching 100hp per liter. Way more than any American car.

After all, they squeezed something like 195hp out of a 2.2L I-4! Prelude before, and now 240-hp, 2.2-liter I-4! (20/25mpg) in the S2000.

Comparatively, if a Honda engine was 4.6-liter V-8 like a Mustang, it should be able to pull out 501hp (ignoring power losses from more parts/weight) instead of the 300hp Ford specs at.

Keep in mind there's differing power bands here as Honda engines get that hp from higher revving than the Ford, with lower torque than a Ford.

It would be nice to mate a Honda engine with Toyota's HSD for, IMO, the best hybrid combination.

Interestingly, further down in the article page:

That's true but note the "old" S2000 had a 2.0 litre with the same 240hp so that's even more impressive. Problem is, most of their power is in the upper band. That's what VTEC does. i-VTEC is closer to our VVT-i than VTEC is. i-VTEC gives more low-end torque. While Honda may be good at the hp end, I like Toyota's new 3.3 litre V6 3MZ-FE engine. It has gobs of torque at a low 3600rpm.

Details of Honda's new auto tranny in this forum.

It appears it could be the Antonov Auto tranny which is more efficient than normal auto-trannies and could come in a 6sp version.

I think that is absolutely hysterical. Countless anti-hybrid people have made claims that Prius operation is far more complicated than a traditional transmission. This widens the gap, making the simplicity of the PSD even easier to understand and more difficult to deny. Sweet!
