It would be interesting to see the regen power vs brake pedal pressure, MG2 rpm vs brake graphs.

Surely, software is trying to maintain a consistent stopping force even when regen drops off, so how does it accomplish that feat ?

I got mine back after the update, and the brakes are much better feeling. I'm still holding my breath on some of the quality issues (fuse box cover was off laying on the engine, and brake lights still don't come on easily). I realize this is a "dealer" problem, not a Toyota problem; but, per the quality 'book' Toyota wrote, quality is end-to-end, not just engineering and production. I hope the dealers buy into quality improvements soon. At least they fixed the brake feel, rattles and HSI -- I guess 60% right isn't a bad start.

Seems like we had a similar experience I will let you know on Friday.
My 2010 Prius glides for a Nanosecond and then the brakes bite\grip aggressively, it happens so often that I thought it was a quirk where the stability\directional control systems were overly aggressive , now I understand that this is actually a critical part of the car is failing consistently. Toyota never contacted me I called them today and scheduled an appointment for Friday.

I must say I brought in my car to get upgraded and was told that I was already up to date. I purchased my car in the summer and had complained of the feeling when I first got it and was told it was normal. So my question is if I already had the update how am I having the problem? I do not believe it to be power of suggestion as I went to the dealer shortly after I got it and that was long before any of this came out in the news.

I agree the disc brakes seem to be used more than before the recall. Since having the car from new the pads hardly seem to be used, with the result that the brakes were making squealing when starting off. Now the brake pads seem to be used more often (or with greater pressure) so the squealing has reduced.

    Otherwise no issues with MPG,

    Regards,
    John

You could take your car back to the dealer (or to a different one) and ask them to check and see if the upgrade is installed. Others who have had the upgrade accomplished have posted that they can tell by hooking up their Tech Stream and checking the brake ECU firmware version. I think only cars manufactured after Jan or Feb would have it from the factory.

The fix, SSC-A0B, was not available until February. If you brought it is anytime after January for any reason, you probably got the update.

Take your car to another dealer and ask the service writer to have the version of the brake software checked with the scan tool. Tell them you don't want them to lookup the VIN but have the technician read the version. If they give you any guff, ask to speak to the service manager.

I have the same problem after the recall.. I would suggest not to buy Prius because after the fix, when you are going over railroads or more chattery roads while breaking through it... you have a micro of second that your break is released.. you are not able to break if you try to break after railroad and behind one of the car in front of you...

I sent my car to Crown Toyota in Ontario and they said, sorry, they can't reproduce the problem, so they can't fix it. my ipod integration has issue to.. I have to bring my car in more than 3 times to get it done. my car was in shopt for 24 hours and nothing was fixed..

if they can't reproduce the issue, they need to find a scenario where they can reproduce.. they are not going to go to a road that could be reproducible because it's far from their shop... fine... I need some lawyer to help me get through this.. I am not tolerating them to sell me junk and not safe since Toyota is all about safety isn't it???

if you do not believe what I said.. send me an email.. i'll explain in detail to you but think about it before buying the car.. it's not worth to save gas while driving a unsafe car... I'm very disappointed of how they handle such error cause by them...
