This is more common than you think. This happens to most light metalic colors. Pay attention next time, and you will see that. It is not just Toyota.
Color mismatch is a problem our new Prius v in blizzard white. My wife and I purchased it 2 weeks before Christmas and only noticed it today when I washed it. We will live with it as repainting it scares me. I will mentioned it to our dealer in case it gets worse. We have a BMW in silver metallic with plastic bumpers and rocker panels. They match PERFECTLY! Why can't Toyota do a better job? Wallyf
Referring to the OP I have a 07 the same color and got hit front & back and have new bumpers & body shop was unable to even come close matching the color. This was a highline dealer body shop filled with lexus and Mercedes too. Our Driftwood color is really really hard to match the rubber bumper to metal. Rubber just absorbs paint differently and ages differently too. They claybarred my bumpers and that helped alot though. Try claybaring it.
I have black and they do not match. It seems the plastic parts are darker than the sheet metal. While in certain light conditions they are really are obvious. Shame on your TOYOTA>>>>>> I will not have the car repainted if offered. I occasionally look at the dealer stock and I find the same issues.... WAKE UP TOYOTA>>>>
