Kia Ray concept car. Kia Ray Concept - Auto Show - Road and Track "Kia claims the Ray concept can drive 50 miles on pure electric power. As a plug-in HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle), the Ray, according to Kia, delivers 202 mpg; as a pure HEV, it returns 77.6 mpg. Total range is 746 miles. Top speed is 109 mph." Looks very eye catching too....Whaddya think?
If those stats are valid, Kia would be silly to not market this car. Unfortunately, those numbers seem too good to be true.
Of course they would be silly. Again, a concept car...designed to impress. Reality? We'll see...but nonetheless, a sharp looking vehicle. The rear end takes some getting used to
77 mpg drops to 40 mpg in the summer when you have to run the AC on max to try to cool it down with that huge windshield.
The car and numbers look good. Unfortunately, from my experiences with Kia products, K is for Kia, as well as Krap. I had an Optima that was the worst vehicle that I ever owned.
We have a couple phrases over here that might apply; "you get what you pay for" "buy cheap, buy twice"
I've seen *many* concepts like this over the time. They never materialized. Two things are for sure; if it ever reaches production (which I highly doubt), it: 1) won't look anything like the concept 2) will never get the advertised mileage I'd *love* to be proven wrong, however. But I am afraid I won't be. Over-promise and under-delivery problem all over again .
A totally unrealistic-looking car. Yuck. Who wants headlights that are 3 feet long? And way too much phony NASCAR "ground-effects" nonsense.
Now ... MAKE IT !!!! This could be a gold-mine in getting attention from the media and a huge PR boost for Kia. I sure hope they don't let this one pass by. This could be a huge opportunity for them to boost the presence of their name in the auto market.
