Tell me, then, why Toyota's sales dropped 16% in Jan when others are gaining market shares. "Most" is a word that needs to be defined here. 99%? or 84%?
Curious, where did the "16%" come from? Toyota sells other cars than the Prius: Toyota Reports January Sales Bob Wilson
A two week halt in sales of 8 of Toyota's most popular models certainly hurt. Not being able to sell Camry, Corolla, Avalon, Highlander, RAV4, Tundra, Sequoia and Matrix essentially eliminated over 60% of Toyota's inventory. Interesting to note Venzas, and Tacomas sold very well during this period. Most dealers were also out of the Sienna as the stock dwindled down in preperation of the introduction of the all new 2011 Sienna this month. Also many dealerships including mine told deposits on many cars we had in inventory and couldn't sell. We had a couple of dozen cars that our customers left deposits on and waited for Toyota's fix to pick up.
