I watched this video on CNN (can't seem to link it) and one thing stood out: Vehicle Stability and Traction Control. Am I wrong in surmizing that this woman's lack of knowledge of VSC is her biggest problem? Are the cars getting smarter than the users? If you would share your thoughts I'd appreciate it, because my 2008 does the same thing over railroad tracks or loose gravel and the dash light comes on telling me it's active.
You're going to need to post more information for us to say anything useful. If you are talking about the normal loss of traction issue, we have already beaten that to death. If it's something else, try to give us a few hints. Tom
If you could give us the name of the video, or the URL (http link) that would load it, then we could respond properly. But, be forewarned, that anything "reported" by any of the major American "news" outlets should be viewed with a degree of skepticism. They've rightfully suffered a severe loss of credibility in recent years. (someone linked to the Audi acceleration "problems," dating all the way back to 1986) Chuck
video on cnn Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com I made it about half way thru and her voice made me turn it off, sorry. 8:/
She drives a 2010...irrelevant to those in this forum. Given her general attitude and whiny approach, she strikes me as little more than the video equivalent of a forum troll. If your Prius is displaying the same symptoms, though, I would suggest that you make it known to Toyota. Registering a complaint with the government leaves a useful paper trail, but ultimately does little to achieve an actual solution. Any actual solution will have to come from the manufacturer. Chuck
I want to comment on this, but frankly, it has been beat to death. The sky is not falling. That is all.
Toyota is recalling the related 2010 Prius and other hybrid vehicles worldwide to fix brake problems. What more do we need to comment on this beat-up topic?
Simply saying nothing would be appropriate if you have nothing constructive to contribute, perhaps? I asked a simple question as to whether the VSC could have been the cause of her braking diatribe. Thanks to others.
You asked a simple question, but provided no information or details. There is no need to feel defensive. Tom
I've contributed the FACT that Toyota has officially issued a recall to address Yellin's Prius Problem. The answer to your simple quesiton is NO. VSC has nothing to do with the 2010's brake-(feel) issue. And your 2008 dash light is doing what it's supposed to do to warn you about the lost of wheel traction when driving on loose gravel/railroad tracks. You can also read the Owner's Manual about the VSC dash light for more details.
