Heck with groundhogs day, I know spring is coming because it was nice enough outside that I could wash my car. It took two washes and a towel dry to get the outside clean. I wanted to put a coat of wax on it but ran out of steam after I tackled the inside. The griot's interior cleaner is amazing! I was able to use it to clean the cloth seat where my son spilled something too. (thanks Paradox) I'm really impressed with how easily it cleaned up. Much easier than my Honda was. I love my car!
We have about 3 more months of winter left here in MN.Lots of salty roads,Really makes a mess!! Hard to keep clean. Try the Griot's speedshine wipe on wipe off Easy!! I will try the griot's interior cleaner. My car is Sandy beach W/tan leather!! The G3 is so much better than the G2 I had
You should check out the California Car Duster. It's this red cotton duster with parafin wax tips. I got it for my dad's mini cooper originally, but am using it for my Prius now. The more you use it the better it works. Best $10 I ever spent. California Car Dusters - California Water Blades - Mini Duster - CaliforniaCarDusters.com
I so wanted to do that today! Unfortunately I blew up my subwoofer amplifier and it drained my battery such that event the stereo or headlights wouldn't come on. It was dead dead!
I've heard it. They are indeed nice. Not as nice as mine but still. At least yours has bass. I removed my subs until I can get the amp figured out.
I wasn't even jammin'. The box flipped over while I was hauling some stuff and I didn't notice. The subs were pressed against the floor so I'm thinking the impedance screwed up the amp. lol
Ya Ya I hope a flock of seagulls fly over it and they all take a big dump. LOL just kidding...nice that you could get it done.
Man, I'd love to go wash mine...but the roads are still to wet here and I know I'll be covered in dirty roadspray by tomorrow....think I'll wait for things to dry out a bit first.
Mine got rained on this afternoon when we went for groceries... :rain: I do remember learning something about keeping it as clean as possible though because left-on dirt can effect the paint. Plus, I just feel better having the layers and layers of grime off.
Nice! Mine just got sprayed with road crud (i.e. sand, slush, mud etc) by an SUV driver to who changed lanes rather close to the front of my car.
For my previous car, I subscribed to the notion that the less times I touched the paint, the less swirl marks I'll put in. Therefore, I didn't wash it all that much. Didn't really work. To all: What is your regimen for handwashing? My biggest fear is trapping dirt in the wash mitt and having the mitt act as a scouring pad. I have access to a pressure washer so I will fire off the dirt first and then rinse off the mitt often. I have a microfiber cloth for drying.
That's not really necessary. Most car paint finishes are protected against dirt from scratching your car. A rock might be different but what's the chances of that. It's like thinking you might get HIV from sitting on a toilet seat. ok maybe too far. Sure it's a fear, but has it happened to you yet? (Rhetorical question )
Looks great Octavia! Glad to hear you're happy with the interior cleaner. Amazing stuff isn't it, considering it has no smell to it at all. Use it in your house too, like when the little ones spill stuff on the carpets. Trust me, I've got some experience with that lol!
As well as this worsk, it will either leave waxy streaks on your car (when the duster is new), or it will start to leave very fine scratches that show up as swirl marks on darker colors (when it's getting used more often). It works great taking the dust off, but after a month of using it a darker color car really needs a buff job in order to get the swirl marks out.... I had to do this all the time with a previous black car. If you have a dark colored car and you get lots of dust on it, the best thing I've found is a quick rinse from the hose and then wiping it dry with a soaker rag. That way you get the dust off and you don't scratch up the paint.
I use the California Duster after I wash my car and bring it back in my garage - this way, I know the Duster is always clean, and my car is clean. I've had no problems with residue or marks. Maybe my gray finish has an advantage over black... but I wouldn't leave my car in the sun after using it though, as the wax might melt onto the car. But in the end, it really shines it up and finishes a good car wash.
Use something like Windex that has some ammonia in it. That way it takes off the dirt/oily film that builds up on the inner part of the windshield when you use your defroster, and it won't leave any streaks. Use either the blue shop paper towels or a good microfiber towel/rag so you don't get any lint or paper particles on the glass when you clean it. Depending on your dash board surface & color, lay a towel down ontop of it before you spray the Windex on the windshield.
