Forget about the brakes!! For 30 grand you think they could match the bumpers!! This is the first chance I had to wash the car!! Did not notice it when I bought, winter here salty roads
+1 I can't tell from OP's picture whether there's a problem with op's car. It is a very chameleon color with the yellow metal bits, and any little inconsistency in lighting will easily make different parts of the car appear different in tone and/or color.
As others said - can't tell from your photo re mismatch, but I believe this is a rarity topic for the Forum. All panels are painted in one step at the plants - so each panel for each specific car gets the same exact color mix during the paint application. If yours is NOT a complete match - my guess is that there may have been some minor damage to your car's front bumper cover during delivery (port/dealer) and the body shop did a repaint. Again, only a guess, but a factory mismatch is almost not possible. I've had metallic beige paint on other cars in the past and it is a VERY difficult color to match. Even with the "news" coming from Toyota nowadays. I would have someone inspect your bumper's paint -perhaps an independent body shop - to see it it may be a repaint. If so - you have grounds for appeal with your dealer.
There was one prior thread on this topic (for blizzard white), in which people pointed out that with these high end dual or tri coat paint jobs, there can be a slight inherent difference in how they show up on painted plastic, versus on painted metal.
Ok,I did a google search for 2010 prius sandy beach. This is what I found!! This is a show car?? I should of gone with black!!!
You might have a different "mismatch" problem though. One forum member did report a slight mismatch with one of the two black Prius he has.
Ha Ha, Toyota is still #1 in my book!! I will live with it!! I wanted black when I bought my Gen2, But that was when gas was 4 bucks a gallon and 3 months waiting lists. Black in nice when it's clean, maybe if I lived out in CA!!
Unfortunately its a very common issue with light colored cars...from all carmakers. Its a difference in the way the metal flake aligns when the paint is applied to the plastic bumpers vs the metal panels of the car...
Guess I will be going to the dealer for recall, will look at more cars there!! I have seen some silver that looked darker. Also going have the dealer do some custom setting, reverse beep, seatbelt beep, unlock chime. Scott
Just add me to the list of people that can't see the difference you are talking about from the Pictures you are providing. I see brightness differences but they seem to be coming from differences in angle and light source. But maybe it's just my eyes. I agree with the poster that suggested that if you did have a difference it is most likely something that occured during delivery. If you can prove it, you probably do have recourse. Otherwise just wait for all the colors to bleed into one, or squint. Hmm...just looked closely at the picture of The Blue 2010 Prius on the frontpage of Prius Chat. Seems to be a pretty clear and distinct color "tone" difference right at about 11:00 O Clock around the wheel well, right where the body transistions into bumper. If it is that distinct, Toyota might want to look into it. I've never noticed it before, but I wasn't looking.
No, it occurred at the factory per SW03ES's post and has been happening for years on other makes and models.
Okay, now that I think of it all my automobiles have been dark colors...black, red or now a darker green. Maybe this is something I just haven't noticed.... I'll file this under New Knowledge.... Now I'm going to be looking differently at every newer light colored car I see....just to see if I can notice..thanks...it's a curse now...
Ha ha, or maybe just where sunglasses Sorry for the bad photo, had other photos but deleted them!! This is a photo I found online I think toyota show car?? Mine looks as bad in the right light. Hey, maybe the car was made on a friday!! How crazy is that
Wow, Now I know why I got that color!! Sandy beach you love it or you hate it. I really like it on the V, looks good with the 17" wheels!! Didn't know if I would like the light tan leather, Love that too!!Heated seats, Xm radio,Grateful dead channel, Oh ya!!:bounce:
I've noticed this on my Sandy Beach also,...but it is soooo slight. Anyone else that I point it out to can't see it. I'm very happy with the overall exterior fit and finish.
I've noticed it on my Blizzard Pearl. In certain lighting, the plastic bumpers and rocker panels don't match up. It is rather annoying but I'm not sure I would want any other color. Still love it to death.
