I don't mean to digress from the topic, but I had to deal with that rattle by adding some pieces of felt/cloth in between the console gap:
Mine works so well that it can fly, travel underwater, and serve me breakfast. Ha ha, just kidding! I never eat in the car because crumbs in the seat lowers fuel efficiency.
I bought my gen iii v4 in June and have about 8000 miles on it. I have not felt this brake thing at all, nor anyone else in the family driving it. I even have been trying to get it to do this, but can't feel it. Car is fine by me.
First time prius owner since Dec 31, 2009. This is our second hybrid next to our 2008 Camry Hybrid. Haven't had any problems over the brake issue and have driven over several pot holes and I'm still alive. Been over a month and still have 3 pips left till empty on gas. As they say in the McDonald's commercial...da da da da da, I'm Lovin It!
6 months, 5000 miles, mountanious terrain, snow and ice, 100 gals! and no issues. I may have felt the anti-skid being a little too aggressive once, but so what. Media hysteria, slow news day, pile on Toyota, those GM's aren't as bad as we led you to believe! I wonder if in this economic downturn, if anyone is correlating the number of complaints vs. if the cars in question are owned outright or /leased/financed? You know that the black boxes in modern cars are able to report everything.
I have had my 2010 Prius for a one week and have driven under 50 miles so far. No problems yet, but considering I have hardly used it I guess that does not mean much. I was so excited when I got it , but since the controversy started it has been quite a buzz kill
I bought a salvage 2005 and rebuilt it myself except for autobeyours replacing hv battery(had I known not to keep trying to start it and ruining the HV) I could have doen a better job.Started with 43,000 now with 60+ 000 No problems, Getting 45/47 mpg in hills, cold weather, and short trips(3 miles ) often.I doubt any other car maker would spend the many millions on fixing a problem of it's own accord.
I'm a happy owner, Prii is a remarkable car! This is my first Toyota, adding to longtime experiences with Honda equipment. Wife and I have not experienced apparent brake issue yet, in 7000 miles since purchase. 69mpg MID (64mpg Adjusted) average for me in 50 round trips totaling 1000 miles in suburban environment. I am a patient driver, who greatly appreciates all the internet help from longtime users who have shared their knowledge. Akio Toyoda if you're listening, a $1000 loyalty discount for Pacific NW USA will bring me (and probably many others) in to local dealer to talk about another. If you can't swing that, please add HUD option to USA 2011 models, let the owner control the reverse beep setting, and add inverter temperature display to one of the MID screens. Cheers!
Bought my 2010 Package IV Prius 3 weeks ago, drove about 1300 miles no issues or quirks at all. I am not quite understanding about the brake issues if at all. My Prius treats me like a charm with good gas mileage, I luv this car so much I practically drive it everyday and decide to leave my Nissan R35 GTR at rest forever (which I get only 200 miles out of the whole tank with over 760rwhp). =)
I am quite pleased with mine. I had a big landscaping truck cut me off really bad on a freeway exit. I had no time to think just time for "panic stop" the brakes worked fine, surprisingly fine. I thought I was a goner but I was able to miss the truck with lots of room to spare. That is my evaluation test for me. I am even more confident of my Prius now with the wife driving it in a similar situation.
Oh thank goodness! A "thread" of sanity amongst this hysteria!!! Guess I should understand this is the "land of the sound bite", the country where you've got to somehow get your voice heard above the "WA, WA, WA, WA"! I love my Prius! And my "dog in this fight" is not "ravenous"!!!
Sept, 09 since buying my Prius III. No issues for me other then ground clearence. shame on Toyota for not jacking this sucker 3 ft. in the air !
No problems with mine. Toyota makes a great product. I've owned a 2006, 2008 and now a 2010 Prius and I've been happy with them all.
Why would it be ridiculous is some of us have had the braking issue problem and Toyota has admitted the problem? Because you have not had it, it's ridiculous..woo hoo...lol, great logic Who cares about some car for 30 yrs ago or other cars?? Where is the logic there??
