Remove a part to clean peee!!!

    Help before I get in big trouble.

    I need to remove the floor directly behind the rear seat backs and possibly be able to wipe off pee that may have dropped between that crack under the rear seat bottom.

    I forgot to take my puppy potty and now my new (to me) '06 smells! Help I can't find the hidden attachment for the floor panel directly behind the seats.

    I found a diagram of how to remove the seat bottoms in the rear but is it possible to just lift it up enough to get my hand down there to wipe with out taking the seat backs out?

    Help me out here so I don't get in trouble with the DH (Yes I'm using his account). I hope it's not tied to his email or I'm in trouble. :(

    First, I'm impressed to see all of the tools in your photo.

    Are you trying to remove the carpeted trim panel that is over the traction battery?

    If you have removed the hardware that secures the chromed D-rings, then pull up on the trim panel. It has a few plastic clips holding it to the top of the traction battery.

    Regarding the rear seat cushion, you can remove it by pulling up on the front bottom of the cushion, there are a couple of places where it snaps into the floor.

    No, as long as the OP doesn't get cleaning fluid (or pee) into the traction battery case.

    So you're saying.... just pull.

    I did remove the rings (I found the tools because the DH just reorganized the garage... I was impressed too).

    I hope it's not going to break. Wait... where should I pull. I'm pretty sure DH said the batteries were back there, so I'm sure that I'm talking about the same part. It's covered in carpet (and pee) and sits directly behind the rear seat backs... secured by metal D rings. Ok... where to pull and what direction, ahhh I don't want to break anything. And I removed the tabs holding the carpet down... now just the mystery attachment...

    Also I put my hands under the rear seat bottoms and I'm feeling a little lost. I'm going to keep trying that while I wait for your reply. Oh thank you so much.

    When I installed my subwoofer I removed the battery cover and found that 08 had two tabs of cloth holding it! I just cut them. Since I have Wet Okale seat covers, the flap was just getting in the way of the rear seat fitting properly I just timmed it off and tossed it, spare parts!! Good luck de-oderizing the carpet, urine can really stink. Hit up a pet store, or a vets office, they usually carry good deoderizer spray. We have 3 cats, the stuff works very well!!

    Regarding the rear seat cushion: just put your hands on the bottom front of the cushion, on one side, and pull the cushion up until the latch releases. Then move to the other side and pull up until the other latch releases. Then you can move the cushion out of the car so that you can clean whatever needs to be cleaned.

    Regarding the carpeted trim panel, start with one corner and pull up gently. The panel is flexible so you may be able to see under it as you start to pull it up. Try not to get liquid into the traction battery, or else you'll have a much bigger problem than a pee smell...

    Pls take and post another photo after you've removed all of this, so that you'll have a permanent record of your disassembly. Also, when your Prius traction battery dies, you'll be able to do a DIY replacement and will impress your DH, friends and neighbors... :D

    Pet Stores sell a spray with an enzime that neutralizes urine. You might just want to have some, not only for in aiding in this clean-up but since you have a puppy? You might just want to have some.

    Febreze is nice to have as well.

    Congratulations on releasing the trim panel! Looks like some of the plastic clips remain on the traction battery case, so you'll need to pull those out and reinstall on the trim panel before you replace the trim panel.

    You don't have to worry about breaking the rear seat cushion, so just pull up on it as hard as you can, one side at a time.

    Oh what??!! OK.... give me a few hours. I have to clean and clean and it's just nasty. BTW if you want to know if a previous owner had a dog, just lift up the seats. I'm just going to say Hair, very long big dog HAIR! YUCK...

    No money! I was really hoping for about 150 so I could get the remainder of the car detailed. :)

    Rear seat cushion is in, and I'm drying the other panel. It had a very VERY hot shower. Deodorizer, worked. I have one small place I can smell pee still and I don't know what to do. It is where the seat belt comes out on the rear seat back. I'm not feeling gutsy enough to pull that out too.... what to do. According to where she peed, I am pretty sure it did not penetrate the leather into the foam. Any thoughts?

    Next up... pull the plastic parts out to reinstall before the reinstall. Thanks a million guys.

    Well, would it make sense to pull the seat belt out enough so that you can use a foaming cleaner to clean the web of the belt? When the weather heats up, any pee left will really start to smell.

    Or will it be necessary to buy a new seat belt?
