I am so disappointed that Toyota has not been out in front of the Toyota gas pedal issue and the Prius braking problems.

I am glad that we have the NHTSA and other watchdog groups to battle corporate greed that would otherwise go unchecked. I filed a complaint with the agency about my 2010 Prius and its braking "issues."

Has there been any current discussion about a class action lawsuit? If not, I'd be happy with hara-kiri :0 Seriously, how dare they sell cars with known problems...

Sounds like you want revenge, not the updates already on their way.

Too bad you weren't around when certain automakers were pushing SUV sales under the guise of being safer.

I want the fix AND want to be compensated for the loss in real value of recalled vehicles. Seems just--not vengeful.

This post should simply be deleted. This is moronic. The company has already begun fixing the cars and I have little doubt it will extend that fix to owners. I'm not defending Toyota, they made a mistake. But there is no reason to match one mistake with another. Just settle down and be patient. Your safety is not at risk.

Only ones compensated by class action lawsuits are the attorneys. They make a million or so while the plaintiffs end up with 56 cents each.

You may sell that belief to yourself, but it certainly does not sound just to me at all. And I am sure it does not sound just to the majority of others on here.

I don't believe that by the time I'm ready to get rid of my 2010 Prius that the value would be any further diminished - recall or otherwise IF Toyota corrects the issue. Only those who are holding the car for the short-term (due to panic or otherwise) would experience any "loss".

Remember - you only realize the loss of value when you sell. Otherwise, it's just a number on paper.

I have not had any problems with my brakes and have not filed any complaint. I do not think this rises to the level of a class action suit.

I have had many Chevrolets and Fords during my long life and this brake issue is minor compared to what I have experienced in the past. At worst, this rises to the level of a minor annoyance.

How 'bout a No-class action lawsuit?

Thank you. Obviously this individual has no finance experience because he cannot differentiate realized loss from unrealized (paper) losses.

After reading all the comments here on PriusChat, listening to the news on the radio, and watching the national news on TV; I'd really expect seeing crashed Toyota vehicles at nearly every intersection and traffic light.

Could it be that the media is making this this brake issue with Toyota vehicles a tempest in a teapot? Or maybe it is a conspiracy to get the attention of the nation off the political issues in Washington D.C. ?

Not really, but it is different enough to leave it alone - depending on the direction it takes.

The media makes a big deal about everything. Several of us have been approached by reporters requesting comment. I personally refuse to take part in the media frenzy.

I agree that class action lawsuits benefit attorneys but couldn't it also help to change corporate culture that values dividends over public safety? Toyota continued to produce, market and sell their vehicles while there were known, major defects with their automobiles. They sold us their brand built upon quality. In reality, many of their cars are not reliable and not safe. Further, they concealed this information from the public.

Selling of the vehicle was implied. I will get a post-January 2010 Toyota Prius. Mine is parked in the garage now. Filed a formal NHTSA complaint.

I agree with the first poster on this thread who advocated hara kiri. It's the honorable thing to do. If you bought a Prius and now deeply regret it, a knife thrust deep into the bowels will (after a few moments of agony) surely end the pain.

Once there is a repair/fix the value of the vehicle itself is restored. The value of the Toyota brand itself might not be but you can not be fairly or legally compensated for that. That is not to say a class action lawyer will not turn this into an opportunity for profit (for themselves, not the owners).

    What is your problem?

First off, why attempt to sell your Prius when a software update, which already exists, will correct the issue. The vehicle is safe to drive.

Second, why even waste your time filing a complaint with the NHTSA? Don't think they are aware of the issue?
