Re: Acceleration Surge Going Over Bump its a change in braking force due to the lack of regen when going over a bump, as soon as you go over a bump the car changes from regen to friction brakes, and people perceive this as a lurching forward problem. the honda hybrids, when auto stop kicks in changes braking force drastically, similarly to how the prius changes braking force going over a bump.
Re: Acceleration Surge Going Over Bump What's it called when they are the ones throwing it? I see that a lot on the big GM forum. A well-liked veteran will intentionally stir trouble by dropping bait (like misleading about Prius), then accuse any outsiders who responds as being a troll... when in reality they caused it. That too is regarded as entertainment. .
Re: Acceleration Surge Going Over Bump A troll. Trolls don't seek answers/solutions. They're there to stir the pot as part of their entertainment. If people here don't think this site (also) has trolls, I would suggest they get out more so that they can see what one looks like.
Toyota warns of possible brake problems in 2010 Prius Ok, I have been reading all of the threads here about the braking issue that comes up when gently braking and hitting a bump in the road. But I hadn't seen Toyota officially announce anything. But as I was reading this article here from CNBC: http://www.cnbc.com/id/35208812/site/14081545 it mentioned, "...Tuesday, even as the automaker warned of possible brake problems in its latest Prius model." Where is that warning from Toyota? I missed it and can't find it. Anyone?
Re: Toyota warns of possible brake problems in 2010 Prius It's probably from that NHTSA investigation about the braking loss in certain situations (e.g. railway tracks and manhole covers).

Re: Toyota warns of possible brake problems in 2010 Prius Breaking my 2010 Prius over a moderate-to-severe bump or pothole reliably sets the TCS dash light to blinking and lowers braking power for a moment. It's annoying, and at the first time it was occurred, it was very scary. I hope it's not dangerous, and as the dealer said, it's not a breaking system malfunction, but the system's way of avoiding wheel lock. I hope Toyota will solve this problem asap
Re: Toyota warns of possible brake problems in 2010 Prius Can you provide a photo of the street and bump? Any speeds? Was it a descending roadway? Was a right turn coming up? Vehicle empty? Thanks, Bob Wilson
Re: Toyota warns of possible brake problems in 2010 Prius Mmmm...Interesting.... 1. Sorry, I don't have a photo. 2. 55-60 kph. 3. Descending road. 4. Yes. 5. Driver & Paasenger only.

Japanese Government Orders Toyota To Investigate Complaints Over 2010 Prius Brakes Japan Orders Toyota to Investigate Complaints Over Prius Brakes - NYTimes nytimes.com/2010/02/04/business/global/04prius.html I had a feeling that sooner or later issues about the 2010 Prius would go beyond forum complaints and into the mainstream. I've been eyeing the 2010 for months, ready to hand over my cash, but the small little reports on the forums about scary braking issues have been in the back of my mind. Yesterday the Woz (Wozniak) lightly criticized the 2010 in the media and now the Japanese government is raising a suspicious eyebrow. I'm reeeeally reconsidering my 2010 Prius IV purchase that I'm supposed to make this month. Way too much going on with Toyota. Even if there is a likelihood of not being sold a defective Prius, I'd rather be 100% certain it's safe and not having to worry about having an auto that will later be recalled. I don't want to buy myself any headaches. I guess I'll wait a little more to see what develops.
Re: Japanese Government Orders Toyota To Investigate Complaints Over 2010 Prius Breaks You can NEVER be certain w/any vehicle that there will not be one or more recalls in the future. It doesn't matter if it's a Prius or not. Side note: if you want a laugh, the 2000 Ford Focus had about a dozen recalls. See NHTSA ODI - Recalls. FWIW, the 2000 Nissan Maxima, 1st model year of the 5th generation Maxima had 0 recalls. My 02 (3rd year of 5th gen) had 3 recalls.

Would you still have bought a Prius if you knew about brake issues? Would you still have bought a Prius if you knew about brake issues? I don't think I would have.
Re: Toyota warns of possible brake problems in 2010 Prius brake complains and real trouble are 1 and 2. i also notice that sometime's ( gen2 prius ) when braking and hitting a puddle of water in the road the VCS light come's on and a notice the car doing something. but thats whats it needs todo.. thats VCS for. maybe people in the usa can buy cars without it and maybe also a lot of cars sold are without it. ( i know the gen2 prius in base version in the usa did not have vcs if i am correct ) because of this and the fact that cars are more and more provided with vcs and ofcourse the hype of the prius taking it more to the news people are not used to drive with cars that help you out or in other words take control.. that people dont like yet.
Re: Would you still have bought a Prius if you knew about brake issues? What brake issue? Brakes are fine in my gen3 Prius.
Re: Would you still have bought a Prius if you knew about brake issues? i don't have any brake issues either.
