Hey guys, im new to priuschat but far from new from the whole internet automotive scene, im hoping for some wisdom here.

I recently put an alpine deck in my dads 04 prius (used all the PAC wiring harnesses). After the install everything worked great, but i hadnt done the resistor mod yet, so once i got all of the satellite radio stuff in i decided to do them at the same time. I installed the satellite radio (consists of a 12+/ground and a plug into the deck) and i started having issues. I did the resistor install and that fixed the mpg/climate control stuff (as it should) but now im running into more serious issues.

It seems like i blew a fuse or something, but im having trouble locating any faulty wiring or any blown fuses (checked the deck/inline wiring fuses). Now, this is what the car does:

-deck/ interior lights/ clock/ garage door opener dont have power
-remote system doesnt work (key must be in holster to start, locks dont work through remote/door buttons, have to use the key to get in)
    -vsc light is on

I did a bit of searching around but couldnt find any info so hopefully yous guys can help out.

Any help is appreciated, in advance.

It's hard to respond to your original msg because that msg assumes the reader knows the following: what a PAC wiring harness is, and what a resistor mod is.

I don't know either. However, since you say that the interior lights and other accessories don't work, try looking for the 15A DOME fuse in the main relay/fuse box near the inverter, and replacing it if necessary.

If you need more help with the electrical wiring, I suggest you access the wiring diagram for the 2004 model year at techinfo.toyota.com

    Awesome, thanks patrick..

that and some button pushing has mostly solved my issues.

Now my only issue is the car doesnt detect the key (for remote unlocking or starting).. i remember the car had a similar issue after going to the dealership once.. any ideas there?

I assume your car has the Smart Entry / Smart Start system. A couple of suggestions:

    1. You will find a SMART button near the steering column, to the left. That button turns the system on and off. Try pressing the button to see if that helps.

    2. Replace the battery in the fob, and see if that helps.

smart button is on, but neither fob will unlock the doors/start the car due to proximity or by pushing the handle button. theyll just unlock the doors with the button/start it with the key in
