100,000 Mile Club

Well, my new-old '04 has 123K on it now. Just bought it.

The maintenance book only goes to 120K.

What's next up? The 120K service was (mostly) done. But now it's off into the land of the unknown.

Is there a list of maintenance schedules for the world beyond 5 years, 120K miles?

(edited 94 to 04, I guess most folks got it but I just caught it).

I have 105397 miles on my 1997 Prius that I purchased new in Sept '07. So far I've only changed the oil as reccomended, the ATF (both loops last week) and one set of tires. I'm avg about 55 - 58 mpg, 80% of my milage going 55 mph using CC and 20% in the city using P&G. My operating cost is $.05 per mile at $3.00/gal. including oil changes! I LOVE THIS CAR.

This is true. In addition, replace the serpentine drive belt (if not previously replaced), transaxle ATF fluid and brake fluid. Consider replacing the 12V battery now as a preventive move, if not earlier replaced.

Please do not confuse Toyota SLLC coolant (which is implied when you talk about the engine and inverter/transaxle coolant loops) with Toyota ATF WS (which is the lubricating fluid for the transaxle). Both the coolant and the ATF need to be replaced.

 

I have 135,870 miles on my 2006 Prius I bought in December 2005. About 90% of my miles are highway (127 mi RT daily commute) miles and I average about 48 MPG.

I have the annoying HID headlight problem but thanks to this forum I know where to get affordable bulbs (and I already submitted my letter to HQ for reimbursement for replacing the left ECU). Two days ago, I bought new Goodyear ComforTreds and now I have steering issues and the rear alignment is off especially on the right. It is this issue that brought me to the PriusChat forums today.

Other than these two issues, it has been a great car. I hope it lasts for several more years.

 

Would 83,673 on my 2005 Prius (which I traded for a 2009 Prius cause I wanted a new one but can't stand the '10 interior styling) + 20,000 on my '09 Prius = 103,673 count for this 100,000 mile club?

 

Is there a service interval published for the serpentine belt? There's not a lot of room down next to that tiny little motor. I wonder if this is one that a modestly skilled owner can do themselves.

Of course, this probably isn't the correct topic for these questions.

 

The service interval is to inspect the belt at 15K mile intervals, starting at 60K miles.

2004 Prius, 184,000mi

1. brake pads needed changing finally. replaced front pads/rotors, replaced rear shoes/drums.
2. waterpump seaping, replaced waterpump/coolant/serpentine belt

2005 Prius, 142,000mi
1. brake pads did not need changing, but changed them anyway.. replaced front pads/rotors only, did not touch rear drums/shoes.

 

i am using my 2004 on a rural route for almost 4 yrs.
i have 143000 on it now the brakes lasted 3 times longer than any other
vehicle used.
regular oil changes at 5k
i drive 60 mi a day over 5 hrs and 470 stops.
i bought it used with 38k only problems were the front wheel bearings,
1 went at 92k then other went at 98k dealer replaced both at the cost of the extended warrantee along with the multi display that went black one day would have cost $600

 

Nice. I'm curious. What mpg do get on your rural route and what would a typical non-prius get on a similar route?

Does Danny (or anyone) offer a "100,000 Mile Club" ("200,000 Mile Club") sticker? That would be cool.

 

I have a 2005 with 138,200 on odometer. Only repair was a dirty throttle plate at 130,000 miles, which only cost app $100.00 to fix. Use synthetic oil, usually 5W 20 Amsoil XL, and it is running like new.

 

I'm at the 133.5K mark. Changed tires around 60K. Use Mobil 1 synt and change every 5K. Headlight (passenger side) went out and Toyota USA paid for repair which was only for the element, since we did the repair ourselves. Great car!

 

I own a 2006 Prius and commute 80 miles per day with it. I have now crossed over 111,000 miles with no sign of slowdown yet.

Because of personal problems (ie. divorce) - I have actually had to refinance the car and it won't even be paid off for another two years. Hopefully I will make the 200,000 mile club!

 

My 1996 Prius is running like new at 105,000 miles. I change the oil every 5K using Mobil 1 5-30. New tires at 54,000 miles and that's it. Current tank is 54.2 mph. Best car I've ever owned.

 

My 2005 has 110,000 on it. Got good use of my ExtraCare contract... @60k I had the radio replaced because it wasn't ejecting cd's - that was a $1400 repair, then around 80k I needed another repair that was covered by the warranty.

Looking forward to another 110k and beyond!

 

My toyota came short of this milestone at 90,000. I pray I can get it moving under power soon.

 

Is this anything like the Mile High Club?
