I have a passenger side squeak when the car is very cold. Once warmed, the squeak goes away. I've had a few toyotas and have yet to find one that doesn't rattle or make some odd noise. When they try to fix anything on the interior, I typically receive the car back in worse shape so I decided to live with the squeak in the seat and the rattle behind the driver's side air duct.

After a year on the road, my '08 developed an annoying squeek/weak
groan in the passenger seat. After 3-4 months it magically went away.
Shortly thereafter it started in the driver's seat. It's been going on now
for ~5 months... irksome but survivable.

FWIW, there is a TSB on this condition. It looks pretty complicated. I
haven't gone to a dealer to have the procedure done because I'm not
confident that in the seat disassembly/reassembly process they won't
screw something else up... scratches, tears, etc.

Is the squeak coming from the underside of the seat or near the headrest? Is it a subtle intermittent sound or an annoying, inescapable din? ;-)

I think it is the underside of the seat and it is not subtle when it gets going but very evident and annoying. Music needs to be playing!!!

LOL, and here I thought you were making a crack about your girlfriend being squeaky. Very sorry! I think I have the same problem with my passenger seat - much worse with a passenger in it, but it squeaks even when empty. I'm thinking mine is coming from the plastic trim on the door side, not the locator pin as specified in the TSB.

Yep, for me it was that plastic trim. Following the TSB (T-SB-0390-08) I found where the two plastic pieces were rubbing - I could even see a worn spot. Instead of having the dealer replace the trim I just cut off a tiny bit of plastic with a box cutter. No more squeak. TSB found in the thread linked above, but I'll repost it here for convenience.

I had my squeaky passenger seat on my 2008 repaired at the dealership yesterday. This was the third time I had it in for this problem going back over a year. I showed the service advisor TSB 0390-08 to bolster my case as they said the sqeak was as a result of an HD radio I has installed! Anyway, the part that they replaced is Part #71811-52140-B1 Shield, Fr Seat Cush. This part no. is different from the one listed in that TSB. I've only driven the car from the dealership to my home and so far so good. I'll update you if the sqeak returns.

My hatch sounds like its squeaking when I pull out of my sloping driveway in the morning. Does anybody know what this is?

The 2006 has this problem, only when it is pretty cold outside, definitely below freezing, only when there is a 180+ pound passenger. Of course the other passenger choices are teen girls. The younger one weighs 120# and the older one doesn't even crack the 100# mark so the 180# isn't a specific minimum Shifting weight off the outside edge usually stops the squeak.

After reading this thread, I'm guessing the plastic rub TSB. Thanks for the tips!

Okay I finally solved it and it was really simple.

I got some thin cardboard, tore it into shape and put it between the plastic parts rubbing at the back.

No more squeak!!! Woohoo!!!

We have a 2006 Prius that has developed a squeak on the passenger side also, I believe it is the plastic base of the seat, rubbing against other plastic...seems to only do this when cold...once interior of car is warm squeak goes away...Plastic must expand or something.When I push on the bottom plastic part of the seat I can make the squeak stop...again only when it's cold.
