Hi everyone, First post here. If I posted in the wrong spot I apologize. I am a current VW TDI Diesel owner:rockon: and am looking to get a prius for my fiancee as she doesn't like the diesel. We test drove a prius for the first time the other day and fell in love. Anyways, to my point. I think I found a prius that I want to buy but it is out of state which makes it hard to inspect over the phone. The car is priced right, it is a 2007 with like 35 thousand miles. My questions are: 1) how do I tell which option package it has? All I know as of now it appears to be loaded, no leather, but has the nav setup. 2) car was hit in the rear, but was still driveable after it was hit before the repairs. The seller says it was just cosmetic but, should I be concerned about anything? Are there any weak points back there or anything I should be aware of? 3) What ar some other things I should be aware of or look out for besides the obivious brakes, wheels, etc etc? Thanks in advance for everyone input. And, sorry if anyone is offended that I drive a TDI Larry
Do not buy any Prius without first having it completely inspected by a Toyota dealer. So many things can be wrong with a Prius after an accident it'll make you ill. On second thought it's better just to forget about that one. The price is "right" because nobody local, who can actually see the thing, wants to buy it.
thanks for the response. I am supposed to get some pictures of the damage emailed to me tomorrow prior to being fixed. If anyone happens to have carfax the vin is JTDKB20U777600646 IF someone does, it would be appreciated to pme me the report. thanks larry
I wonder if a mod can merge the two threads. In the other thread, JimN discovered on the toyotaowners site that the car was declared as totaled. I would not buy a salvage car unless you get it really really cheap and you can troubleshoot and repair stuff yourself. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/74877-possible-2007-owner-soon.html
Attached is an Autocheck of that VIN. Looks like it has several issues, you may want to question the seller about them, maybe use them as bargaining tools...
