The only backup camera I'm really interested in is the OEM that goes in the existing knockout in the hatch. I'd be interested in a GB for that.
Guys, I can definitely include the Toyota JDM / Eclipse camera, but are you sure that it is compatible w/ Coastal Tech's ViewTech 2005? Did a search & I got the following: Besides, when you sell or trade in your current Prius, that's one additional equipment that you cannot carry over to use in your new Prius. That's why universal cam can be more desired. This Toyota JDM cam is mounted off-center, will the image be distorted a lil'? If you guys are sure that the Toyota JDM cam can be used here in the US w/ Coastal Tech & PAC-Audio system, I will include it. So let me know please. Edward
The eclipse OEM camera is very likely to work with the CoastalTech system. But I guess we won't be certain until someone hooks the 2 together. Probably the worst that could happen is that colors won't be right.
I confirm that the eclipse cam works with the VCI , in fact the VCI product comes from converters.tv and it is the product I am using since december 2004. I do believe that the oem cam will work with the coastaletech adapter. I ordered one 2 monthes ago  I will let you know the result when (if?) I get it. Definitely I prefer the oem cam and if I sell my car it will stay inside; I am sure that the guy buying my car would love this gadget.
Thank you Mike. Thank you Frenchie. Frenchie, if the Eclipse JDM cam turns out to be not 100% compatible w/ the ViewTech 2005, can I ask customers to complain to you? Just kidding. Thanks for your help. You 2 are the back-up cam guru. Edward
Once someone gets their hands on a Coastal interface and the Eclipse JDM cam to confirm they work together, I am ready to purchase the OEM cam...
How does $285 USD sound to you including UPS Ground to your door? No other hidden charges like Customs fees, 0.3% Paypal surcharge, Int'l freight, etc. I wish to accumulate orders (over a period of 2 - 3 weeks) for all non-oversized JDM items so that I may provide even better prices for everyone. Delivery time from that point on to me is around 2 - 3 weeks, then normal domestic UPS Ground delivery time applies after that. I plan to post another thread that lists out all non-oversized JDM items very soon. Edward
I too would be interested in the OEM camera once it is proven to work with the Coastal Tech video mod. I tried to look at the www.coastaletech.com site just now - not found?????
I just edited my original post & added the Toyota JDM / Eclipse cam. We need someone to try it w/ the ViewTech 2005 & other US interface units first.
I will say no unless frenchie says otherwise. From all the JDM parts that we have imported over the years, I rarely saw English instructions. Only in Japanese. Sorry.
The truth is still out there ... I guess that no one knows for sure cos' ViewTech 2005 is still not out yet.
Shouldn't the JDM backup camera work just by plugging it in directly to the head unit (i.e. without any intermediate device like the Viewtech 2005)? I'm surprised no one seems to have tried that.
