Looking to use my iPod with my 2010 Prius. Do I need to buy a connector? Any suggestions on which ones work well for cheap?
If you haven't bought an iPod yet, then just get a flash drive and plug it into your USB port. The iPod software for the Prius is terrible.
I agree, the iPod software for the Prius is deplorable. Any reasons why?. I mean I have a 2010 Prius V and the technology is pretty good but when it comes to the simplest things I just can;t believe Toyota did not think about these upgrades.
Isn't the software written by JBL? This is the one place where the FFH shines compared to Prius w/its Sync technology. Strongly wish Toyota and/or JBL would step it up and provide us w/an updated, much more usable interface for iPod.
Agreed, Bluetooth streaming with iPod Touch works perfect! If you have any other iPod without BT, just buy a double ended mini jack cable and plug into the AUX port.
Does anyone have enough technical knowledge to guess whether or not this interface is fixable with a simple software upgrade from Toyota? And again I would urge all of you who are dealing with this to call Toyota and complain. Yes, we can use BT...Yes we can use the aux jack, but should we really have to? Especially when Toyota jacked up the price $400 to cover the cost of standard USB interface!
I have an app, called Fluxtunes (there are several similar) for my iPhone that let's me easily change playlists, adjust volume or skip songs without having to look at the screen. It makes using aux or bt easy. And it only works for iPhone/itouch, not iPods. I wish the USB interface were better. But until they fix it, I like bt the best.
I mean you can't control your iPhone via the car controls, which kinda defeats the purpose of BT streaming. Its like using the AUX but without wires. Toyota = FAIL.
Actually, that one is Apple's fault, since they are the ones not fully supporting the AVRCP profile. In their defense, I haven't heard of any other phone maker fully supporting it yet.
