A little over a week ago I stopped at a gas station to fill up and grap a soda. A pedestrian was crossing from the gas pumps into the store, so I stopped and waited for him to finish. A woman parked in the lot right in front of the store didn't check her mirror before backing up and she backed right into me. The driver's side rear quarter panel had a dent in it and the bumper got a little warped. She was moving slowly so there wasn't a ton of damage and the airbags didn't deploy. I'm glad she had insurance - and it was GOOD insurance (Progressive). They contacted me within 2 hours of the accident and I dropped my car off Monday afternoon. They are covering a rental car in the meantime - a 2008 Dodge Charger. Louise should be repaired by this coming Wednesday, the estimate came in at a little over $1000. I had to drive the Charger a couple of times when I couldn't carpool with my husband. I don't like it at all - too big, it feels like driving a tank. And the gas...after driving home from Progressive on Monday and then ONE trip to work and back, I was down half a tank. I looked it up and the thing only gets 18/23mpg! So it's sitting in the driveway and we're driving the xB. Every time I see a Prius I feel a pain in my heart - I miss MY car. I never really cared much about what I drove, until I got Louise. I hated having to leave her at the Progressive office. But she needs to be fixed, she's only a 2007 and I want to drive her for 10 years or so, and I really don't want to have body damage for 8 1/2 more years!
That's why I'm glad we are a 2 Prius household - I can use the older one if I'm stuck. I think I would be physically sick if I had to drive another type of car now that I've seen 50+ mpg.
Sorry to hear of the fender bender but glad to hear that you were well taken care of. It would be good business practice for other insurance agencies to treat "the other guy" in the same way Progressive has treated you. There's a chance that if you get frustrated with your insurer you will remember the service you got from Progressive.
Hi Everyone, Sorry pyccku about your very unfortunate accident I feel your pain My 07 was rear ended at 7 mph 2.5 years ago and the driver was not insured and it was her fault so I paid OUT Of Pocket because high deductible & My insurance wasn't helpful in tracking down this hit and run driver so I in effect paid twice!!!. But on the bright side no one was injured and Louise will be home soooon!!! good luck bob2780
