Does anyone know if the 09 under brace from Tanabe will work on the 2010. According to their site that it's 2 point... Is there any big difference between last year's model and this year? Tanabe USA Inc. - Sustec Under Brace
The 2010 Prius has a new body, a new engine, different battery and motors, is longer, wider, and lower, compared to the 2004 to 2009 Prius. In short, they are totally different cars with the same name and philosophy. If you are looking for any aftermarket parts for a Prius make sure they are for a 2010. [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Prius"]Toyota Prius - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] Many owners (including me) felt the 2004 to 2009 Prius needed additional bracing, I have not seen a large outpouring of such opinion for the 2010 Prius.
There is enough of a difference that they have different parts numbers. I suspect if they were identical, they would have the same part number. On the other hand, anything can be made to fit if money is not an obstacle. You can always try and report back.
Just order the proper brace. My Cusco brace should be arriving in a week or so & it's supposed to be a 4-point.
Well, I already have the older one on hand... so it didn't hurt to ask. But yeah, you're right I'll get the right one...
It definitely doesn't hurt to ask or wonder. For example, on the Gen II Prius: (a) it wasn't until the second model year of the Touring Edition Prius that someone figured out and revealed on PriusChat the differences in suspension parts among the Touring Edition, the 2004-2005 Standard Prius, and the 2006 and later years Standard Prius, and (b) it wasn't until the last model year of the Gen II Prius that someone discovered that the OEM and aftermarket rear stabilizer/sway bars for the 2003-2006 Corolla/Matrix/Vibe fit perfectly on the Gen II Prius.
