I stayed in a rental, the Hut, in Taos, Dec 07. The Hut is no longer available for rent. Do you have a specific question?
We'll be in Taos in March and were thinking of renting one of these to see what they're like. I guess that's not an option anymore. Also, my son and daughter are working as interns building one in East Texas. I wanted to know if these things are for real or just a fad.
Is it like the BioSphere? That didn't pan out too well... Biosphere Is Abandoned And Beautifully Decrepit | Gizmodo Australia
Oh, no no no. Nothing like that at all. Check out the link at the top. These are non-fancy earth-friendly home dwellings built with lots of recycled materials (tires, bottles, etc.)
I've seen those on TV shows before. Looks really neat. For some reason I can't get past the idea that the people who live there are in a cult and they all sleep around with each other.
I want to live in there if they make it into a biosphere estates thing. As long as we can get in and out. Rofl. I love the idea of a semi-controlled environment. As long as it's just used as a tool for being more efficient, and not throwing lots of energy into making it a perfect outside environment. Personally I've been in some HUGE indoor areas that had like little towns set up for flee markets and villages inside big buildings. Now I just saw the cobo basement or wtv at the detroit auto show on their website. I would LOVE to live in something like that! I've always been fascinated by the concept.
Hmm...when I was a Kid, I remember a movie called "Silent Running" with Bruce Dern, he was alone in a space traveling Bio-Sphere with robots....I'd consider living in "Bio-Sphere Estates", if it included robots...and maybe Laura Dern.
