Hi all, So I'm working on replacing my OEM audio and I'm stumped right now on how to get those tweeters to stay in the A-pillars. I'm wondering if those of you who've done it can share your mods? I suppose I could affix it with glue or some adhesive, but wouldn't it be difficult to remove later?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
If you can do the hot glue it's a nice controllable way to glue. I used super glue and probably shouldn't have, I've since learned that the vapors can be bad for speakers. Depending on the fit, you may get away with electrical tape even. - D
Thanks guys for the suggestions - right now they are secured with friction, and a combo of elec tape and a tiny bit of butyl. Should be fine. Will report back when I put them in for good.
Another idea is to use silicone if you are worried about marring the plastics but it will not hold as well as hot glue. Either can work and that is often what we use in our shop. The problem I have with the stock locations is that they will not hold a quality tweeter since most are much to large to fit in there. That is why I had to make custom pods for the dash. If your tweeters will fit then I say grab a glue gun and do it man! P.S. electric tape will lose it's adhesive traits when subject to much heat and it ends up just making a mess. I would avoid it if possible.
