Is there a waterproof cargo liner available that covers the entire area when the rear seats are folded down? I would like to carry two road bikes in the full cargo area instead of using a bike rack.
Haven't seen it and don't know anything beyond what's listed, but Sigma Automotive has one at Toyota Prius 2010+ (ZVW30) Interior Accessories :: Sigma Automotive (left column, 6th row down). I was thinking about it myself, for a poochie protection thing, so if anyone has bought that one, would love to hear the feedback or see any photos.
I know I've seen one in gray and in clear vinyl, but it doesn't cover the crack between the seatbacks. That would be a concern with an oily, wet, muddy bike!
They're road bikes--not mountain bikes, so not muddy or oily. They can be wiped down. The only thing that's really dirty is the chain, and I wipe that, too. If there were a good protective surface underneath them, I think the seatbacks and sides of the car would be fine. In the item suggested above, it didn't look like it was for the 2010 specifically.
On the GII I used cardboard. It made it easier to slide things in and out, was disposable, and was CHEAP! Just get a box and break it down.
I wrote the original post. Since that time, I bought a sturdy tarp at Home Depot that fits very well and does a good job of protecting the cargo area and adjacent surfaces.
I carry a cheap blue poli-tarp under the rear floor all the time for those times I need to carry something that might be dirty, and I'm not refering to the girlfriend.
Here are 3 full length cargo liners in descending order by price: One for $225 USD sold by Sigma Automotive: [IMGLINK]http://www.sigmaautomotive.com/jdm/prius_zvw30/int_fullcargomat.jpg[/IMGLINK] Toyota Prius 2010+ (ZVW30) Interior Accessories :: Sigma Automotive Another for $149 USD sold by AutoAnything. It's made out of canvas and comes in 2 colors and 2 patterns: [IMGLINK]http://cache.autoanything.com/images/products/med/cargo_trunk_liners/canvasback_of_idaho_canvas_jacket.jpg[/IMGLINK] 2010 Toyota Prius Canvasback SUV Cargo Liner, Canvas Jacket Liner And a third one for $36.50 CAD sold by Lee Valley Tools that also protects the doors and vertical surfaces (if you haul dirt, peat moss, etc.): [IMGLINK]http://www.leevalley.com/images/item/gardening/xh802i1.jpg[/IMGLINK] Cargo Liner - Lee Valley Tools Personally, I just use a tarp, painter's cloth or moving blanket. But if I wanted one that was custom fitted for the Prius, I'd probably choose the canvas one for $149 because it doesn't have that roll up/folds that the top one has when the seats are up.
Here's how it looks like in Airbalancer's 2010 Prius (photos are from Airbalancer's thread http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-2010-prius-accessories-modifications/71439-cargo-liner.html ): [IMGLINK]http://priuschat.com/forums/attachments/gen-iii-2010-prius-accessories-modifications/20081d1258929591-cargo-liner-picture-106.jpg[/IMGLINK] [IMGLINK]http://priuschat.com/forums/attachments/gen-iii-2010-prius-accessories-modifications/20082d1258929591-cargo-liner-picture-107.jpg[/IMGLINK] [IMGLINK]http://priuschat.com/forums/attachments/gen-iii-2010-prius-accessories-modifications/20083d1258929591-cargo-liner-picture-109.jpg[/IMGLINK]
Have you ever put the 2 bikes in yet? Did you have to remove the front wheels? How did everything work out?
Is it me, or is that Sigma stuff crazy expensive? Some of those little plastic boxes are hundred of dollars...that doesn't seem right..
And some of the mats that are shown do not reach all the way to the edge. It is a square piece of waterproof something with a slit cut in it for the two seats. What is the point of waterproof is you don't reach the edge and have a slit in the middle? So water will slide off the center and soak the edge of the car? Or water can slide into the slit between the two seats and stain your back seat instead of the trunk area? For $200++?
Can anyone recommend a cargo liner suitable for carrying a pair of skis in the cargo area one or both of the seats down, while keeping mud and melted snow off the carpet? Currently I only have the carpeted cargo mat that comes with the car. I'm wondering whether someone has a better suggestion than just using a hardware store tarp. The Toyota OEM all-weather liner doesn't cover the seat backs. The Weathertech liner looks like it wouldn't work very well with the seats down because of the lip that runs around the edges of the liner. The canvas liner in this thread looks like it might leak water between the seats. The garden liner in this thread looks like it might work ok. Any ideas? (This is for carrying skis occasionally; obviously a ski rack would work better for regular use.)
