Hello, I am trying to sell my 2007 Prius Touring Package #6, and I am having a heck of a time selling it. I had one couple put a deposit down and I though the deal was done, but they called a few days later saying that they are concerned about the hybrid system warranty and what happens when it expires. They were scared off by potential failures of the batteries/hybrid system down the road. I tried to explain that their fears were unfounded, but they wouldn't hear it. Now I am considering purchasing an extended warranty to try to lure more buyers. What are your thoughts on that idea? Have any of you ever purchased an extended warranty on a car that has almost 30k miles on it? Do you have any recommendations for a reputable company from which to purchase an extended warranty? Hi Doug, If I were to get an extended warranty, I would get one of the genuine Toyota extended warranties through PriusChat's vendor, Troy Dietrich/WarrantyShack.com/Toyota of Greenfield, MA, who sells the Toyota Extra Care - Platinum Plan - 7 years/100,000 miles/$-0- deductible for $1055 (it retails for $1850). Personally, I wouldn't bother to buy the extended warranty just to sell the car. Sorry you're having trouble selling the car. If I were looking for a used Prius I'd be pleased to find a real Touring Edition Prius for sale. Good luck.
Ditto Boo. You will sell it a lot faster if you reduce the asking price by $1000 instead of spending $1000 on an extended warranty.
Only for 2004 and later Prius first sold, licensed, and operated in CA and the other PZEV states following CA.
