I noticed that this is on a Gen II chat forum but you are a 2010 owner so I was hoping this procedure would work on my 2010. Unfortunately, after multiple attempts, I have not been able to get it to work. Have you gotten it to work on your 2010? Thanks

This refers to the PRE 2010 models.

The 2010 has to be customized at the dealership. Takes little time but you have to have them handle that.

Did you ever get it to work for you? This process to lock/unlock the doors is actually written in the factory owners manual. Good luck.

I couldn't get this (beep disable) to work on my 2005 Gen II. Does anyone know if it's possible on Australian models?

So far, it appears only North American models can have the beep disabled.

We have a 2010 US Prius and try as I might this will not work for me. If after turning it back on I press the trip button immediately, wait 10 secs or +, go to rev, then park switch, release trip button the ODO mileage does not change.

If I wait until the ODO+mileage appears (after boot) hold trip button wait 10 secs or +, go to rev, then park switch, release trip button the ODO mileage will switch to TRIP A.

Don't get it... I hate the backup beep!

    Any ideas out there?

This thread is for GenII, i.e. 2004-2009.

For the 2010, either (1) have a dealer program it, or (2) borrow a ScanGauge-II, and we can point you to the thread with the necessary codes.

You don't want to press the Trip button after you turn it back on, you want to press the KM (kilometer) button and hold it until the process is complete (about 7-8 seconds).

Maybe Tideland needs to edit the instructions to make clear they are for Gen2 only.

Gen3, 2010 and later, requires a different procedure. Those of us with a ScanGauge use its XGauge feature with some codes mentioned in other threads. Owners without ScanGauge take it to the dealership.

I went to my dealer today and they disabled the beep. I bought the car last week. The salesman asked the service dept and they said it was a safety feature and they could not change. 3 days later I walk into the service dept prepared for a argument....but did not get one. They did it without questioning. At 1st they said a $46 fee. When I said that I had just bought they said there would be no charge. Took the tech 5 minutes.

I, too, had the dealer remove the back-up beeps (to just one beep).  I bought my Prius about three weeks ago.  In the process, they also removed the seatbelt beeps.  When I asked my salesperson to do this, he initially refused, telling me it was illegal and couldn't be done. Because I was fortified with knowledge from this forum, I insisted, and gave the impression I might not purchase otherwise.  He checked with the manager, and they agreed to do it for me. It only took five or ten minutes.  I'm happy to not have to deal with the beeps.

Thanks for the step by step instructions. I tried it three times and was about to give up on disabling the beep. Then I read fwellers post above that it worked for him. I reread the directions slowly and was forgetting the Park step. I just did my 2009 and can't wait for my wife to come home so I can do her 2008 Prius.
