List Dealers Charging Over MSRP

I scanned these few last posts quickly but I could swear I saw a message from May of this year that Carson Toyota had a 6-8 month wait?!??! I wonder where that information came from. We have cars right now, and for cars at MSRP (not the retail department's allotment) we have lots of them coming in the next 7-10 days that are not spoken for at all... you just have to be smart enough to see the FLEET/Internet department, meaning me (Dianne), Linda, Sam, Greg Borman, or Gloria.

Toyota South in Atlanta, GA has two. One an overly-loaded package 6 with goofy aftermarket wheels and all sorts of other crap. The other, a pretty basic package 5.

Both have "Market Value Adjustment" of $3000 on a sticker in the window.

Uh... no thanks.

Call me crazy, but I'm just not seeing why people are waiting up to 6 months still for a new Prius. From where I am in Virginia, there are a few dealerships within an hour drive

Priority Toyota Richmond has around 8 or 9 in stock and ready for same day delivery. Some fully loaded, some with #4's, and some with #2's all for MSRP.

McGeorge Toyota in Richmond has 4 on their lot, and 3 others that are still in the back just off a truck that are all MSRP

Miller Toyota in Manassas VA has around 10 of all package choices that are all MSRP.

Mechanicsville Toyota in Mechanicsville VA has a few that are all MSRP.

If any of you on the East Coast are still looking for Prii...I would suggest making the drive to VA to get one. I can't speak for Northern Virginia, as I haven't checked much into the DC metro area, but I would assume there are plenty on lots up there that are ready to buy today.

So, within 50 miles of me, there are literally 25 Prius models ready to be delivered immediately. Make the drive for one, it's not like you can complain about gas I know that on the morning of June 21st, I'll be able to go to any of these dealerships and pay MSRP for one that I want with the package I want..it just makes no sense to be on a waiting list or to pay anything over MSRP to get one...you'd still make out better waiting for a shipping truck company to deliver one to you from $500 to $1000 coast to coast, then you would be to take a bath at some greedy dealership local or somewhat local to you.

Some Atlanta Notes:

Mall of GA Toyota: They opened up asking for a $4000 addendum. "Buy today and we'll cut it to $2000" they said. At the time I was there, they had 3 super loaded cars on the lots, I test drove 1 of them. 2 weeks later, they still have those same 3, plus a new one has shown up.

Stone Mountain Toyota: Internet team wanted $1500 over MSRP.

Atlanta Toyota: MSRP

Cobb County Toyota: MSRP

All dealers I've run into also are asking around $400-$600 "documentation fee"

 

My list of greedy dealers in Pacific Northwest: Appleway Toyota, Spokane; Seattle Toyota(pretended had a car on the lot); Rodland Toyota of Everett (phone promise then waffled when I showed up); Lums in Astoria, Oregon, and Gresham Toyota near Portland, Oregon. I did a lot of phoning and found the MSRP ($20,975) in Renton, Washington. You know you can order a car from anywhere who lives up to their promises and have it delivered to another state's dealership as a courtesy-you are already paying the $540 delivery price! I have done this when I bought a pickup and had it delivered in the midwest 1700mi from home in order to pick up a camper from a private party.

 

Toyota of Lake Norman (Charlotte NC) has the only Prii in the five-state area. Selling at MSRP ... with the obligatory $619 Toyoguard package and $598.50 "documentation fee".

And all the other so called add on's that they dream up.

It's know wonder that the public can't stand to go to a dealership to do business.

Beck Toyota in Indianapolis charges $990 for "Market Adjustment."

I told the salesman that I am used to buying a car at some discount, but I understood that if the supply/demand situation with the Prius requires MSRP pricing, I refused to pay an extra $990 for "Market Adjustment."

Needless to say, he immediately cancelled this charge.

After waiting a few weeks, I found a Prius at Tom Wood Toyota (also in Indianapolis) for $600 less than Beck Toyota's price (includes trade-in)--with no "Market Adustment" charge even being mentioned!

 

Beck Toyota charges $1500 Market Adjustment as of last week. Bought my prius from Ed Martin for 400 under MSRP.

 

Priority Toyota in Chesapeake, VA is charging $1000 over MSRP. <_<

I had been talking to a salesman there for a while and he quoted me $500 below MSRP for a 2006 Pre Order. But when I got there and was writing the agreement out, the Sales Manager told him they couldn't "take a hit like that" anymore for a 2006. So I got up and walked out with the saleman walking out behind me apologizing. "Take a hit"? :angry:

I got in my car and called Checkered Flag Toyota in Virginia Beach, VA, talked to the sales manager whom I had bought from in the past and they gave me $500 BELOW MSRP for a 2006 Pre Order Package #4 or #3 depending on the region allotments. Just waiting for January.

 

Well, Dianne at Carson Toyota has quoted 4K over MSRP for 2005 package 3. She says her "retail" salespeople are getting 6K over. Outrageous :angry:

 

I bought a 2005 with Pkg 6 and the package with floor mats, trunk mat and net, etc I paid less than MSRP, actually much less, took me a day or 2 but I got a very nice deal. I delt with Jim Folden at Ramey Toyota in Princeton, WV. He is their Prius salesman and he got the deal done. I would recomend them to anyone I have dealt with themin the past and always good results. Not their other branchs just the Toyota

 

In Central Florida, David Maus Toyota is charging $1.5K over MSRP; most of the other dealers I've spoken with are charging exactly MSRP. All, of course, have some ridiculous "dealer fee" of $500-$800.

 

Caution: about 1/3 of posts are over a year old, and only last 5 posts newer than four months.

 

I can add that Frontier Toyota in Valencia gets $3000 over and Simi Valley Toyota gets $2000 over MSRP. The good news that there are still plenty of dealers in the Los Angeles and Ventura Counties that do not charge over MSRP as long as you are willing to wait on the list.
