Saw this driving next to me today. It said Toyota on one side and Prius on the other. Is this a model they don't sell in the U.S.?
Looks like the 1st gen we got aka NHW11. It's labeled as the "Classic" at John's Stuff - Toyota Prius History. The one that we in the US never got was the NHW10 which basically looks he same on the outside. [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Prius[/ame] might help.
That must be the super-secret Gen4 plug-in Prius we've been hearing about. Wow, it looks like they've really improved on the rear spoiler. Oh, actually that's the 2001-2003 Gen1 Prius as cwerdna said.
Not sure about other countries, but the first gen prius only came as a 4dr sedan with conventional trunk in the US.
Hi All, Yep, that is a 1st Generation Prius, sold by internet in the US initially. Living in a town with lots of programmers, there are a bunch of these running around. Indeed, when I first got my car, it was outnumbered 10 to 1 by 1st generation Prius cars here. I have never seen a 1st generation Prius which was not a standard sedan with trunk.
Hard to believe ... I must live in a bubble. Who'd know there were folks that haven't ever seen a gen I ... or at least seen pict's in the Gen I forum here on PC.
I guess if you don't have a Gen I you don't hang out on the Gen I forum to see the pics... Some of us around here are old enough to have been present when those "ancient" Toyotas came out. In fact, some of us are old enough to remember when the Mustang came out...(but, no, I DON'T remember the introduction of the Model T!).
I saw a navy blue one with Fl. Plates on it a few weeks ago here in Pittsburgh. If I wasn't a Prius owner I probably wouldn't have even noticed it.
