Well I have had my 2010 Prius V for 3 weeks today and for the past 2 days, the check engine light has been on. The car had sat for 1 week at the airport while I was out of town and when I returned, the light came on when started. I checked the gas cap and no change, so tomorrow the new Prius sees the doctor. Only 2 weeks of driving and already a trip to the dealer. Any thoughts? I will let you know what they find.

That's the first I've heard of a check engine light on a 2010 and I look forward to hearing the outcome. Please keep us posted.

Since the car is under warrany, don't be afraid to take it in and have Toyota tell you what's wrong. They can pull the codes - we could only "speculate". ;)

On a positive note, the battery wasn't dead. :D

The verdict is a bad oxygen sensor. They have to order one so the car is in the dealer until Monday. The service guy recommended not driving the car with a defective oxygen sensor. Under 1000 miles and only 2 weeks of driving. Must be defective :(

Admit they did offer a loaner, but I declined.

Little concerned that they did not sound 100% that this was the only problem. Said they traced the problem to a bad sensor and the O2 sensor was the one that would not "respond".

Even more reason to take the loaner... gives them more incentive to fix it.

Things creep by quality control every now and then... I wouldn't worry too much about it.

If they were perfect, they wouldn't need warranties.

As Spidey said, I wouldn't worry about it.

I worked for a computer firm before the days of the PC. In that surrounding, this sort of thing was called "infant mortality."

Same problem here. They are replacing the sensor next week. I have 6500 miles on mine.
