I seen 2010 Priuses every day in the New York area, but have never seen one with a solar roof. Are they not available here?
I'm pretty confident they are available everywhere...but for most of the time that the GIII's have been available, the supply was very limited. I know my dealership did not even get a single solar roof optioned car until about late August...and that vehicle was the car I ordered 3 months prior.
That's good. I'm on Long Island too. I'm waiting for the 2011's. What color are you getting? Red is really nice.
When I was first looking at the Prius during its release perios, I wanted one with a solar roof. Apparently, no dealers around my area had any coming in at all. Factor that in with not wanting to pay for the NAV system, I came to the conclusion that it just wasn't worth it. Months later, and I haven't seen any solar roof Pri's UNTIL two weeks ago when I went in for my second oil change. I have to say, it looks good but doesn't seem like it will be able to withstand a few years of heavy usage. As well, I didn't see a dealer sticker on that particular model, so I'm not sure if it was for sale, or perhaps one of the dealer employees personal vehicle.
They're around, there was a IV with it at the dealership where I got my III. But at least in upstate NY there aren't many days where it would come in handy enough to justify the additional cost. I'll miss having a moon roof, though they are squeak generators!
