Picking up my 2010 Prius IV w/solar on Thursday.
1)Is there a break in period where we should not go above a certain mph?
2)What is pulse & glide and is it useful?
3)What does HUD stand for? It's not in the glossary but is used in posts on the Most Obscure Facts Forum
Probably more questions to come. Prius Chat has been very useful during my five month wait. Had the dealer install my Curt Hitch today and customizing door opening clicks and reverse 1-beep because of what I learned here. Thanks.

    1) Technically there is a break in period. From a practical standpoint, all you need to do is avoid autobahn speed driving and hard stops for the first 500 miles.

Many people will also tell you to vary your speed. The idea behind this is it keeps the engine from running continuously at the same RPMs. The Prius is a bit different in this area, as the engine speed is not directly coupled to the car speed. You really don't need to worry about it, but if it makes you feel better, go ahead and vary your speed.

    2) Pulse and Glide (P&G) is a technique where you use brisk acceleration to get a car up to speed (the pulse), then remove power and coast to a lower speed (the glide). At lower speeds this technique can increase fuel mileage dramatically.

As a new owner, don't worry about P&G or any other advanced techniques. Just get in and drive, and enjoy your new car. Most new owners over-think the process and end up getting worse mileage by trying too hard.

    3) HUD is short for Heads Up Display. A HUD is a sort of projector that shows data on the windshield. This option is not available in the U.S., so you won't have it.

Thanks so much for the desfriptive repsonse.
When will the HUD be available in the US? and does anyone know why is not currently available? Does the Lexus HS tech package has anything to do with it?
I know here is the US we are very LEXUS minded, something that doe snot happen all over the world, so may be Toyota wanted to keep some differences between the both (prisu and hs?)
    Thanks again
