Clear bras are the best solution. Yeah, when you stand right next to the car you can see the line. Back up three feet and it is gone. The leather bras are nothing but trouble and IMO look like doodoo.
I agree that they look like doodoo. But one of the reasons I got this car was so that I could drive from Dallas to Quebec and back, Oregon and back, Mexico and back. I was thinking it would be a good idea to put on a bra for those trips. the clear bras are way too expensive. I found out it cost much less to have the bumper repainted rather than run a clear bra. I just want the best bra available. Leeb18c, is your comment about the photo of the bra? or did you buy one and put it on???
I don't claim first hand experience, but don't leather/plastic removable bras inevitably cause some damage, seems to me what I've always read? I would think there would be some flapping and/or vibration at attachments points that would have to leave marks, although maybe only slight. And it seems like a lot of people leave the bra on full time to cover up the marks, even though that's not what the originally intended. Best of luck whatever you decide...
I had a leather bra on my 04 Prius and I'm scared to take it off. I put a clear mega bra on 2010 Prius. It cost less than $50 on Ebay. The local window tint guy put it on for me. It is vitually seemless. The nose of the Prius has an attraction for bugs and road pebbles.
I had a bra similar to the one pictured on another car some years ago. I remember it came with a warning not to leave it on if it got wet because it could cloud the paint. It was a pain to get on and off so I usually left it off. I spent the money and put Clear Shield on this Prius and have no complaints. It's already saved me from a couple of paint chips on the front of the hood and the bumper.
Yeh, when the car is clean it's hard to see the line but when there is alot of dust and mixed with water from fog/drizzle the dark line shows up pretty bad on my silver. My comment is based on the photo and my bad experience with those type of bra in the early '90s. I'd definitely go with clear bra or nothing at all. You can get clear bra installed for $475 (at least in my area) or maybe even cheaper in So. CA with name brand material. Or if you're brave you can even order precut films from xpel.com (expensive) or invisiblemask.com (I got my bumper kit there) and install it yourself. Bulk films are even cheaper but not recommended except for hood and fender which are the easiest to install.
