On my way to work today I got a warning light (!). Its next to the e. brake light on the dashboard. I looked at some of the gen. 2 threads and it sounds like its a tire pressure light, but I wanted to ask someone in the 3rd gen section. I would look it up in the manual, but its at home (I know, not a great place for it to be in this situation). Its been very cold here in Seattle, around 20F, so maybe that has something to do with the light? Thanks for your help priuschat.

That Light would be the TPMS, Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor.

Check your tires to see if they are low. I would suggest checking them both visual as well as with a air guage.

Most likely one tire is low, or it could have something in it, such as a nail or something.

But checking them all will tell you which is low. If you don't find any reason for it to be low, add air, and keep a check. It could have been just a little low for a while never having been up to the Tire Pressure specified or so close with the cold it dropped a little to set off the sensor light.

In either case, keep an eye on it. If all is normal then it need's to be reset and there are instructions in the manual for this.

    Good Luck.

    Hey,

I believe its your tire pressure gauge indicator - I had a similar situlation last weekend .... my pressure actually was near 20 psi for all tires (by bad) - I will check more often going forward. I added air and reestablished the pressure at 35 psi for all tires.

When I started the vehicle - the warning light stayed on until I physically drove for about 100 yards - the light magically turned off.

My take-away, we better check the pressure more often.

Best of luck with your Prius - I am still loving mine. Close to 8000 miles - averaging 52.2 mpg (computer) and still having fun going green as they say.
