Ipod2Car works with Prius!

I got the iPod2Car installed this week and it works just fine. I live in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia and only paid $60 for installation after quotes up to $85. Try it you'll like it!

 

How much does this Ipod2Car plugin cost and has anyone had it put in at this point?

Hey, gas MZR, where did you have the ipod2car put in? I live in the SF Bay area, and I just ordered an 05 Prius with the middle option package. So I think I'll have the same model car as you (single CD '05) I'd love to take it to the same shop you took yours to. Normally I do all this kind of thing myself, but taking apart my Prius on the first day I have it seems a bit much.

(I listen to audio books via MP3, and not being able to do that is not an option...) Anyway, I'm glad I found this thread. Seems like there are a lot of issues. Since gas MZR found satisfaction maybe I'd just follow in his foot steps. Which model iPod are you using?

I had my iPod2Car installed at Custom Car Alarms in Pleasant Hill, but they also have a shop on South Van Ness in the City. Their phone numbers: (415) 553-8868 and (925) 680-8881.

I have a 3rd generation iPod. The cost of the iPod2Car was 189.95 and it takes two cables: one from Toyota for the Prius and the other from Peripheral, which they stock.

I recommend them.

 

Ok. ipod2car seems really pretty cool. I am picking up my 05 Prius / Package #6 tomorrow. At the ipod2car site is a product called aux2car which I what i'd want to use for my MP3 player which isn't an IPOD.

Has somebody already done this one? Does it work? Which harness do I need? Any thoughts on if my Toyota Dealer would do the install?

I just installed an iPod2car in my new 05 Prius with limited success. The sound is good, and the car charges the iPod. But the track controls on the steering wheel don't work.

I have a 3rd gen iPod. I don't know if that's the problem with the steering controls.

I went through the glovebox to get to the back of the head unit and ran the iPod cable through the box below the radio. I might cut a small notch in the side of the door so I can close it with the cord coming out.

I'm going to finish off the install with a Proclip. That will put the iPod next to the display

 

If the iPod2Car works, why does the website still state it is not compatible with a Prius. Has anyone had any problems getting one installed at a stereo shop?

I emailed their tech support after I had the problems detailed in a previous post in this topic. I got a reply the next day. They basically said they had taken the Prius off their compatability list because of the problems people were having, and that I was lucky it was working at all.

If you get the ipod2car, grab the ipod mount from Proclip. Their clip puts the ipod to the left of the center display, and just clips to the dash. No holes to drill, no glue. It's expensive (around $60) but very high quality. It also makes the iPod display and controls available close to your line of sight to the road. That will help make up for the short comings of the ipod2car.
