I have a 2010 package II and want to add XM radio to it. I’ve called the dealers in my area and they said it needs a fit kit and a receiver kit. The price is $530 installed. Has anyone had this up-grade done and were there any problems?
Hi-I also have a package II and have Sirius installed. Not sure if you were solely looking for integrating it into your head unit (or if that's even possible) but I have a plug & play receiver mounted in between the two vents above the radio (vents still function normally) and with the car kit you just plug into the aux and the 12 volt plug in the center console and it works perfectly-wires ran from behind radio down console-looks very clean and I can use the radio in the house also. MUCH cheaper and with the money you save you can get a lifetime subscription!! Hope this helps.. Stephanie
Yeah, I know there are units out there that are portable and can be rigged to the car, but I prefer the unit to be in the radio. I'll want to see what the "fit kit" and the "recriver" kit is as well. Just was checking to see if anyone out there has had this done yet.
I too just bought the prius II. I have a sirius subscription with the Stiletto which came with a vehicle kit - I could use this in my prius. But wondering if that's necessary when there is already a satellite antenna on the car?? Additionally, since the II does not have the Ipod usb port, is it worth adding the ipod interface kit at the dealership (PT545-00082)?? Or am I better off simply using the aux for the Ipod... I'm alarmed by something I was told by the dealership which is that I cannot use the ipod interface if I have sirius radio, and vice versa. Basically sayingI have to choose only one. If you look at the Ipod interface kit product page on priuschat, it confirms this with a warning. Any advice?
I had the XM radio added to my new II last weekend. That price is a little steep. You can buy the receiver and kit much cheaper on line @ Toyota Scion Parts Accessories Discounted Prices - Metrotpn, (receiver is $165 and the fit kit is $85) and ask your dealer what they'll charge to install. Good luck.
Dang, thats a lot of dough to add XM...you could buy a whole new reciever for that with XM built it...
