If I didn't HAVE to commute...

    I'd get a new Corvette convertible... :rockon::rockon::rockon::rockon::rockon:

But since I do... I'd most likely get another Prius... the latest one fully loaded of course.

I love all of my cars...

Each for their own speciality... the Prius lets me save money from it's frugal gas use so I can buy parts for my Vette...

And since this is a "wish thread"... I'll add:

If the wife would let me go into a little debt, and I didn't have to commute... I'd buy a Ford GT...

That car is sex on wheels.

    I'm just saying...

amm0bob......I always start my wishes with "If I had all the money in the world.....". So here goes....if I had all the money in the world, I would have my old '65 Mustang (she was totally original...) back, a 2010 screamin' banana yellow Camaro, a 2010 blizzard pearl Prius loaded with whatever I could put on her and a totally kicking sound system, too. Then I would wait for the first plug-in Prius and have that, too. I can dream, can't I???

Funny you should ask, my wife asked me this question yesterday.
I am happy with either the Honda Fit, or a Prius. Wife said she prefers the Honda car size, but she is hooked on Prius -- no other car comes close overall.

And truthfully, I would feel in withdrawl if I saw mpg in the 30's.

Sage.....here's my twisted logic....drive the Prius to save all those mpg's. Then joyride and burn rubber (as God intended!!!) in whatever car or truck gives you the warm fuzzies. Then the math works....the gas I saved, I now burn in my fun car!! Does it work, or is it because I am a girl that it works???

As much as I drool over the new Z06 Corevtte........ I'd get a Gen III Prius in a heartbeat. :)

I still kinda miss my old one though. It was so low that it looked like more like a Ferrari to most people (other Vette owners) driving by.

I would test drive a Gen III Prius, Fusion hybrid and either buy one of those or a used Gen II Prius.
Basically it would be a car to tide me over untill either the Leaf or Model S is available.

I'd find a good condition Generation I Honda insight and have it made mechanically and cosmetically perfect.
    I do a 64 mile R/T commute 5 days a week.

    regards

Presumably you're thinking of the Volkswagen Polo Bluemotion diesel. It gets 74.3 miles per imperial gallon on the EU's standard test (combined cycle), which is a lot weaker than the US EPA testing.

That further breaks down into 57.6mpg Urban, 88.3 Extra-Urban.

For comparison, the Gen 3 Prius gets 72.4mpg Urban, 76.4 Extra-Urban, 72.4mpg Combined. The Prius is bigger, heavier - and faster. The Polo is quoted at 12.4 seconds 0-62mph, while the Prius is given as 10.1 seconds.

Diesel has a greater energy content than petrol, so direct fuel economy comparisons can be misleading. The greater carbon content leads to a 99g/km CO2 figure for the Polo compared to 89 for the Prius. Right now the fuel price at my nearest filling station is 105.9p/litre for petrol and 107.9p/litre for diesel, about 1.9% more expensive; at the height of last year's oil bubble diesel cost about 15% more than petrol.

I do think Toyota could blow away these microdiesels with a hybrid in the same size and weight class; perhaps even one just one size down from the Prius, to compete with the VW Golf and Ford Focus. I was hoping for that from the Auris Hybrid but it looks like they went the wrong way, using the hybrid system for power as a premium option rather than for increased efficiency. Perhaps they'll do better with the new dedicated hybrid that's supposed to be announced in Detroit next month.

Right now I'd get a Gen 3. There's really no other choice. I like the space, I like how the Prius drives (I'm a nerd), I don't much like diesel.
