I have a gen III pkg 2. on the ceiling of the car, just beside the cabin light switch is a set of grill lines, reminiscent of what looks to be a mic. Is this the mic for bluetooth? my car does NOT have bluetooth, but I'd like to add it. Has anyone looked up there to see if the mic is already pre-wired in the car? or is that just an empty slot for one installed later? -david
That's where the mic is, yes. As to whether or not there is one prewired in there on a Prius II I am not sure. Though considering how Toyota seems to save a dollar everyplace they can, I would be shocked if there is one in there anyway.
I had that panel (it's actually two panels) off to remove the gear shift LED (I hated that) and mine was empty behind that little grill area.
I would be interested to know how you got that panel off. I have a radio install I'm about to dive into and want to install a new mic in that position. Shoot me a PM if you don't mind. Thanks, Kevin
Here's a couple of threads that discuss removing the overhead panel. It just takes a little more force than you would think it should take. But be careful, one person broke one of the map light covers. Just pull steady and evenly: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...on/71643-how-remove-personal-light-panel.html http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...ssion/66401-rear-view-mirror-replacement.html
Just a FYI. The package II (at least mine) did not have the BT mic installed. I installed my Alpine BT Mic in the factory position. It is just empty slots for the mic position. It actually works pretty well putting the aftermarket mic up there.
Can you tell more about installing a bluetooth when we did not get one in the package 2? I was thinking of getting one to clip onto the visor but if there is a way to install one, that is better.
But those are not healthy for you, nor is holding a cell phone up to your ear. My friend just had a tumor removed that was on her "phone side".
