Is anyone manufacturing vent visors for prius?

    Vent visors are those stick on pieces which allow you to open your window about 2 inches when its raining. I enjoyed these on my old car and am wondering if I can get an after market set for my prius?

    My good old truck ('88 dodge) which we use for camping and fishing (towing) has front vent windows, (drivers over 40 or so will remember them) I love them!! But alas... even back in '88 they were pretty much phased out! :cussing: Curses to car manufacturers for doing away with them!

    I usually do not go around telling people to search for something, but come on! That could not be an easier item to find.

    WeatherTech

    Toyota Depot


    Toyotas are stick on with 3M tape and the Wearthertecs slide into the window channel.

    With the Weathertecs you may have to adjust the auto open safety feature of the windows.

    To Canada yes, but not the US. That is why the link to Toyota Depot in Canada. They will probably void my warranty because they are not available in the US.

    The WeatherTech ones on my car are only useful when parked. As I drive in the rain, plenty of water is thrown up onto the windows as wind whips around the visors.

    Not sure I get as much ventilation value as I wanted when I do leave the windows open, but I've only done the fronts so far and will try all four one of these days when I remember it's going to be in the 90's again...

    Make that WILL have to adjust. Disconnect the battery for 30 seconds then reconnect, move driver's window to half-open, hold up window lever until closed solidly...

    mikepaul - have you tried waxing the hell out of the visors...maybe less surface tension will cause the rain not to come in. Surface tension is the principle upon which products like "gutter helmet" for your houses gutters work. It the surface gets slick they don't perform as well.

    And... I assume you are talking about disconnecting the regular 12v battery not the hybrid battery (dont have my prius yet so I'm a bit daft!).

    Any other side effects of disconnecting that battery???

    No problems with the Canadian visors. I have had them on for over a year and don't have the water problem mentioned above. They really pay off in good weather too, I can lower all four windows a couple of inches for ventilation when parked on a sunny day.

    I didn't lose any radio stations or anything else I noticed. 30 seconds isn't too hard on those things.

    Not sure how the rain could be kept from coming in open windows while driving based on what I've seen, but if some people with visors manage to drive in the rain and not have water come in the open windows, good for them...

    I purchased side vent visors for my 2005 prius from toyota town in canada.
    phone number is 604-530-9151.talked to steve........
    I put them on last week using the 3m tape attached to the visors.They went on with no problem and to my supprise i get no wind noise.Received them just in time for our one and only storm here in kentucky.have no problem with them they are great...cost was 64.50 plus shipping . 24.59.got them in about a week.thought shipping was kind of high but well worth it to me......

    There are 3 brands

    There are 3 different styles/brands of window deflectors for '04-06 Prius. 2 brands have been mentioned above: ClimAir (aka WeatherFlectors) & Toyota Canada. The 3rd type is the JDM type. I will summarize their highlights as follows:

    ClimAir: It offers the lightest tint. In-channel super clean installation. Made in Germany.
    Toyota Canada: Smoked tint. Exterior tape installation.
    JDM: Smoked tint. In-channel installation.
