Is the American remote key compatible with the Australian 2005 Prius. I was quoted $340 AU from my Toyota dealer for a new remote key for my Prius 2005 (including programming). Since I have found out from OEM remote that the programming can be done by you with you Prius FOB slot and a set of instructions. Hells bells the American remote key is way cheaper.
I have heard both answers. I was told definitely no from one of the US sellers of remotes etc, but then I read on prius Chat that some (? Patsparks?) have bought a US one and successfully self-programmed. (I'm still looking for one for my 2004 Prius)
