Is there a way to engage hill start assist in reverse? I was parked in a crowded underground parking lot, facing downhill perpendicular to a shiny big mercedes, and unable to engage it. I've done it the regular way up hill, just wondering if it was possible backwards.
* Keep in mind that you depress the Brake until it Beeps, as long as you keep holding the Brake, the HSA remains active. However, once you release the Brake, you only have 2 seconds to initiate the throttle, otherwise it cancels itself. David (aka Blind Guy)
The first day I had my Prius, I was toying around to see how the camera perspective is by backing down the hill towards my neighbors car. Then I wanted to see how the hill start assist worked. I double pressed the brake, took my foot off (yep, it help) and then hit the gas. Went zooming in reverse downhill towards my neighbors car a few feet away! AHHH. Stopped just in time plus one inch. No scratch on either car. Even the beeping didn't clue me in when engrossed in the new technology.
i was doing it wrong the whole time. i was pressing the hill assist then putting car in reverse. wrong order.
