Here's my best tank so far. 598 Miles, 64.8 MPG and it took 9.75 gal to refill. ALMOST made the 600 mark but the last bar had been flashing for awhile and I chickened out. (should have went around the block more times!) I got this with a combination of highway and local driving, the highway having major slowdowns in construction season. This was driving from NW Indiana to Chicago, my daily commute. I just LOVE this car! Something I have never said about a car before. Happy driving everyone!

Best so far......Hoping to do better. Mostly commute to and from work, rolling terrain, no AC.

    Well done Ray.

I will try for an 800 tank by the time I reach
my 10th fill up, which will be around December
of this year. After that, I will be happy with 600+
as it will require some concentration, effort, and
certain variables coming together to get the
    800 tank for me.

Best tank yet, 552 miles (2 bars left), after topping off added 8.97 gal, 61.5 MPG actual (MFD - 58 MPG).

Looks like I could have easily gotten 600 miles, and probably even 700 if I used the fumes :D

Well, I finally did it! 710 miles on a tank!
57 MPG, some of it highway driving. It wasn't even blinking until I got to 650 miles.

51.7. On my third tank in the new prius. Mostly highway. I live in a rural area so there is no major traffic issues. There are however lots of hills. So far I am averaging between 43.8-51.7

Gee, I was thinking I should be getting a congressional investigation going or maybe suing someone because I am getting EPA numbers now that it is warm. Must be my car is faulty! ;-)

Haven't thought about taking a picture of my tank MPG. Last tank (not in the sig yet) was over 600 miles, 54.4 MPG. It started with a 99.9 MPG 7 mile run from the gas station home. It helped a lot that the car was fully warmed up when I filled it. Of course there was nowhere to go but down from there. I'm holding 55 - 56 at the moment.

I've noticed I get great benefit on Tue and Thurs mornings when I go to the rink before work. Generally gentle down hill the first couple of miles at 30 MPH max both from home and from the rink (plus there is no interstate segment) so the car gets to warm up without having to push hard. I use my EV mod for about 1 mile after the first 2 miles on the way from the rink. Construction and 25 MPH streets with a lot of stop signs. My normal run to work is more uphill and hits the interstate at about the one mile point. Really brings down the first 5 min avg.

Thx Dave! :p I think two main factors contribute to this tank.
    1) Increase tire pressure to 40/38
    2) Warm weather in NY (70 to 90's)

I just drove to Santa Barbara and back from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. I got gas last night 1 mile from home, so the entire 150 miles was on the freeway. The MFD indicates 55.4 right now. Not bad for freeway driving. The traffic was pretty bad on the way there today which helped. Less high speed driving and more coasting.

    Dave,
I agree, this website (and members) is my major source for Prius related knowledge. Thx to everybody here.
Talk about bragging... I was bragging about my MPG to my boss and co-worker at the company BBQ. My boss was like, "wow, I think I should get one of these. When u have a chance, let me drive your car around the lot to see how it feels?"
Me: Sure  ! ... continues to brag about other cool Prius stuff...

Re: I Beat the EPA--Post 'em here 814 mile tank!!

MFD @ 67.7 ave MPG with 814 miles on this tank. Combined Highway and City driving in Eastern NC. Temps 81 to 90. Took 11.2 on refill, 42/40 psi, Mobil One @ 2/3 full mark. If I can raise my total "Feathering" percentage of milage, I think that I can get better, but I am certainly not complaining!

Fantastic Tom! Way to go. That's better than my best average. I think if everything went right for the whole tank, I could pull 68 on my commute without holding up traffic. You're on your way to a 900 mile tank. Just squeeze in the gas to full full full.

Dan has joined the site now. He was my inspiration to try for really high mileage. When I bought the car, my goal was to get 50 MPG and close to 600 miles per tank. The car has far surpassed that. Dan is about to try for 1200 miles on one tank.
