I personally DRIVE ONE OF THESE MONSTER TRUCKS, and quite honestly it is more safe than a car half it's size. my truck weighs 10000 lbs and is in compliance with every legality on the road where I live. these trucks HAVE to be street legal, we invest all this money into them and if they aren't street legal they can be taken. if we do not adhere our tickets are VERY expensive( I have 3 lift height tickets in Va with my old truck ). however the one I own now is road safe and street legal. I don't understand how someone whos car was JUST developed like 2 years ago is going to complain about fuel economy and size of a truck that has been around for YEARS.....the f150( smallest of the ford trucks) was started as the f100 over 50 years ago, and has been being modified for YEARS on end as with its older brothers the f250 all the way up to the f900 throughout the early 90s.....they wouldnt build the stuff for us to modify them for the road if it was illegal, these trucks wouldn't pass a state inspection if they weren't safe.....Im going to have to guess that you're the special person that moved in next to an airport and THAN complained about the noise aren't you? we had this happen next to my base a few years ago in Va.....the government told them to move.....Im going to say to you, if you dont feel safe in your car around my truck.....get a bigger car.....because EVERY one of us with a lifted truck will tell you to go somewhere if you complain about our trucks and try to get us banned. California is already starting to do this with our engines and quite honestly I'll never go to california.
have a great day and that's how I feel on your complaints of lifted trucks. we're not going anywhere. Im sorry if they came off wrong, it's just really aggrevating to have someone with a new car( that was just designed ) come in and complain about something that's been standing FOR YEARS!!!

and to date, these trucks are JUST AS ECO friendly as your cars.

Many items are legally made and sold that are illegal only when installed or used. Saying that "they wouldnt build the stuff for us to modify them for the road if it was illegal" is fallacious. Bad things will be made and sold as long as there is money to be made.

Likewise, many states have no requirement for routine vehicle inspection, so that argument is not universal.

Tom the items on these trucks either have A) a USDOT approval stamped right on them. Or the paperwork in the box they are shipped in that states clearly that they are road legal

I too drive a PICKUP truck (Go to google and search the two, BIG difference) and I do so as a matter of choice. Just as you all choose to drive a Prius. I drive a truck because I haul items and need the 4 wheel drive. (REAL 4WD, something with a little weight) and I refuse to trade my family's safety just t o save on a little fuel.

But as to the point of this thread, based on the consensus of those posted here, if I am driving my truck and get in an accident with, say, an 18 wheeler (even if it is MY fault), we should pass laws banning them from roads because I was hurt because I made the CHOICE to drive a smaller vehicle and that is dangerous?? Doesn't make much sense when you say it like that.

I thought this was a discussion board. We have the right to defend our views and vehicles. Just as those of you that have posted in this thread can present your opinions and bash them.

The question of the day is: What are you gonna do when one of you needs to use a truck? You certainly can do much more hauling with the prius than a weeks worth of groceries:D

    The Parable of the Snake:

Once upon a time there was a serpent who was badly injured in a
fight with another animal. It managed to slither away to safety but
would have surely died if a benevolent man had not seen it suffering
by the side of the road. The goodly man carefully wrapped the snake
up and took it to his house, where he bestowed the kindest and
gentlest care on the snake until it was healed and could return to the
wild. Just as the man was releasing the serpent back into the grass,
the ungrateful snake turned and bit him on the hand.

"What did you do that for?" cried the man, who knew that the bite of
this particular snake was usually fatal. "Didn't I take care of you when
    no one else would?"

The snake shrugged (no small feat for a snake!) and replied to the
benevolent man, "What did you expect? You knew I was a snake when
    you picked me up."

PriusChat regulars should be warned that in past smak-fests (e.g. VW TDI), Moderators here have warned that any PC members who stir the pot on the opponents' turf will be banned here.

I fully expect them to consider applying the same standard in this smakdown.

Thanks for the info. I thought as much - couple of sad losers that have nothing better to do but spend time being irritating on the internet.
Sadly, some people must learn the truth the hard way...

Your post does a great job at showing the inner workings of a borderline low intellectual individual's brain. Thank you for the insight!

People with big trucks disgust me. In my experience, people who drive big souped up trucks are meat-headed morons who are more comfortable dating within their family tree and like to drink Natural Light beer. Are you one of these?
