I just noticed in photos on the PriusChat Home page there is a holder for sunglasses in the ceiling just behind the buttons for the interior lights, but my 2010 (IV) doesn't have a holder. I really miss having a sunglasses holder, which was included in our 2007 basic model Prius. Does anyone know why I don't have one in my new car? There appears to be the same amount of space for one and it certainly wasn't offered as an option when I bought my car.
I have the solar roof but not the Safety Connect. Hey bighouse, I just noticed you have the same model as me. Do you have a sunglasses holder?
I have a 2010 Prius IV WITHOUT the solar roof and I have a sunglasses holder. I'm assuming if you have the solar roof, you shouldn't need the sunglasses holder. After all, you will be WEARING your sunglasses with the roof open...LOL!
Don't be so upset. The owner's manual specifically warns against storing sunglasses in that compartment, so you aren't missing much.
Do you know why? I ask because my husband still uses the one in our Gen II Prius and we use the one in our Honda as well.
I miss the under center console drawer more than the sunglass holder. I just throw my sunglasses on the bottom tray. I do like having all the other little thing on the 2010 so I guess you just have to figure out what you really need for your use. And gmalis1, I also need a hat if the sun is up high and all the windows are open too! It's a blast.
There are many things on the G2 that I would miss if I had bought a G3. That's why I have no plans to move down to a G3 unless forced to out of necessity. Hopefully Toyota will see the light and make improvements in the G4 .
I stored my sunglasses in that compartment and I guess it wasn't quite big enough and they came out bent and don't fit anymore. So it's useless to me anyways. Maybe I should store change up there.
The answer to the original question is that the sunglass holder is not present if you have the solar roof option. It doesn't matter which model Prius you have.
I have the Solar Roof and Safety Connect. I do not, alas, have the sunglasses holder. My sunglasses often will rest on the Kleenex Storage Shelf under the shifter. I think if you have the SR you can't have sunglasses...it's a law.
Some fit, I keep an old (quite old) pair of Gargoyles in there and they both fit and have never been ruined from the heat. They fit in both my Gen II and Gen III sunglass roof holder.
Since I don't have the optional rear-view mirror with home connect I store my garage door opener in it. Tom
You're not missing much anyway. By the looks of it, the new sunglass holder is shallower than the Gen 2's.
