GM Spreading False Rumors/Lies about the Prius

GM yet again gets caught with its pants around its ankles and all it can do bad mouth a car that is breaking new ground.

 

GM should stop making so many SUV and make a hybrid, AND have the CEO's take a paycut instead of laying people off, im sure they can live off 1 million a year instead of 3!!!

 

It could have been something the manager of the dealership typed on on letterhead to help his guys sell cars.

Anyone who doesn't do their homework (research) before buying a car deserves what they get.

*I've* got a Prius because I *did* do my homework.

Sounds like a good argument for a 90 percent tax bracket for anyone earning over a few million a year.

Someone please tell me why this joker is worth $28M when GM could have:

2 people do his job for $14M each.
4 people do his job for $7M each.
Or a team of 100 do his job for $280,000 each.

 

I'd like to know how much of that 28 million was the bonus. Isn't there some sort of tax break for bonuses as opposed to salary?

And yeah, I'm all for an "uberwealthy" tax bracket and includes the bonuses as part of the income.

And do a quick search for GM stalling or Ford stalling. There have been *way* more stalling issues with GMC pickups and Ford pickups.

What is the latest count for the Prius? It appears 28 of the 2004 models and 5 of the 2005 have "stalled." My Canadian Prius stalled last Nov and the reflash cured it.

I'm sure your cousin is a decent person, but it has been my experience that ALL sales creatures lie ALL the time. It's known as "puffery" and without it they couldn't sell anything and they'd lose their job.

BTW: maybe your salesperson cousin can help explain why my very expensive 2000 GMC Sierra SLT 4x4 was such an unreliable piece of s***?

Eg: the Vortec 5.3 V8 had that startup knock that sounded worse than a Cummins "B" motor, plenty of trouble with the AutoTrac automatic transfer case, that "drum in hat" rear wheel disk brake with the parking brake that never worked (GM quietly went back to drum brakes for 2005), and the lopey idle that they could never figure out.

I take it that you've spent very little time towing with a truck. The sole reason why I don't trade my truck in for a new one, is the fact that mine is paid for, and I don't want another payment. Otherwise I'd be all over the H.O. Cummins engine - 310 hp and 625 lb/ft of torque. What sounds like alot, becomes a necessity when you start approaching the trucks GCVWR.

Using a pickup for it's intended purpose is perfectly fine.

Using a SUV for driving the daily commute to the office on a dry highway is just plain wrong. That is not what they were designed for. No excuse can justify the high ground-clearance, heavy-duty suspension, and high-traction tires for that.


Remember, that engine we are talking about was in a SUV.

 

Some people need to tow, and haul a family as well. That's why we have a SUV. We also do need the ground clearance and 4wd. Snow at our cabin is measured in feet, not inches. Plus we have two large dogs. There is actually is a need for SUVs for some people. We are lucky we can afford a Prius for daily commutes without everything in tow. However, many people can only afford one vehicle and have to buy the vehicle that fits all their needs.

Just wish they could make one that gets decent mileage and isn't plagued by problems. We have owned GM, Ford, and now a Nissan Armada and they have all had their mechanical deficiencies. Don't think GM can complain about the Prius!

I'm glad you mentioned that. My parents have an Armada as well (2004), and within the first 1000 miles of ownership, their ECU failed and left them stranded, they had to wait over a week to have an ECU shipped from Cali to the East Coast, that was ridiculous. They bought the Armada because they frequently watch our 3 kids while we're working with insane schedules. They also have 3 English bred Golden Retrievers ( and if you know anything about English line Goldens they can grow to be almost as big as Newfoundland dogs...about 110-130 lbs each)....so I agree, some people need a big SUV. On the other hand, they also own a 2004 Civic Hybrid, so they are concerned about doing their part, and only drive the Armada when it's necessary to do so. Need vs. want is a very big issue when it comes to SUV's....I think a single guy or girl, who lives by themselves and buys an Escalade for the "pimp" factor is worthless and wrong though.

I agree...Honda and Toyota have nothing to prove when it comes to showing GM or Ford anything....it's sad that GM and Ford are only making critical remarks about Toyota and Honda here and there...just goes to show you that they're sore losers when it comes to the Hybrid market, and who was able to make it work correctly first. GM's Silverado hybrids are a laughing stock...I don't know who they think they're fooling, but it's not working for them
