searching the entire country for a great deal on a 2G Prius (06-09) and I was curious how VISIBLY spot what package a car is equipped with. here's what I know (I think): if back-up cam is visible from the back (does this mean it also has smartkey?) pkg 2+? if it has the additional steering wheel controls it indicates NAV (always or ?) thanks for any help with this. -Mike
umm... I'll list the easiest to look for... From a II to a III: - Look at the radio. If there's a MUTE button, it's a II. If there's a LOAD button, it's a III - The steering wheel will have a VOICE and a "on hook" and "off hook" button on the left side of the silver part of the steering wheel. This is associated with the bluetooth handsfree. From a III to a IV: - leather wrapped steering wheel - power lumbar support switch - auto-dimming mirror w/ Homelink buttons - heated seat buttons near the 12V outlet From a IV to a V - 17" alloys - foglights - headlight washers - LED headlights Packages: - If a car has a backup camera and a 7" screen, it has the Navigation Package - If a car has solar panels and a moonroof, it has the Solar Roof Package (which incl. the Nav pack) - If a car has two more silver buttons on the right side of the steering wheel, it has the Advanced Technology Package
The V with ATP also has 2 small round radar sensors on the front bumper, one on each corner (they're the same things as those on other cars' rear bumpers for backup sensors). In this case, it's used for the pre-collision detection. Jay
It isn't even that easy to distinguish a Gen 2 from Gen 3 from far away. Front and sides are pretty easy, but you can't tell from the back until you get close enough to see how much straighter the lines of the 3rd gen are compared to the 2nd gen.
I agree. Yesterday I saw a red Prius like mine up ahead in my lane about 1/2 block away. Excited and I finally caught up with it a minute later after watching it drive, brake lights etc. Then was 15' feet away approaching at the red light and.... it was a Gen 2. I thought I picked up Gen 2&3s easily, but this one fooled me. The final giveaway was the arched spoiler of the Gen 2. Glad I didn't make a fool of myself beeping and waving...
Not quite. They are ultrasonic sensors and part of the parking assistant. They detect when you have passed the parking spot you're aiming for and are abeam the car just past it. They are not part of the pre-collision detection system. That uses the radar information gathered by the same component that controls the Radar Controlled Cruise Control, a radar antenna behind the Toyota logo on the front of the car. Stu
I just think of those sensors, along with the headlight washers and the radar in the nose, as my incentive to never ever rear-end anyone while driving that car.
Check here http://priuschat.com/forums/knowled...andard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html If it has HIDs, fogs and 16" alloys, it's a Touring model.
thanks. what pkg if it has leather, HID, fogs, 15" alloys, NAV.... like this car... http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=c&car_id=269931070&dealer_id=31830609&car_year=2008&rdm=1257878696059&lastStartYear=1981&num_records=100&model=PRIUS&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=2006&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&only_price=1&awsp=false&search_type=used&distance=500&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&sownerid=84542&make=TOYOTA&color=&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=9999&drive=&default_sort=priceASC&seller_type=d&position=top&max_mileage=30000&style_flag=1&sort_type=distance&address=77032&advanced=y&end_year=2010&transmission=&doors=&max_price=19999&cardist=14&standard=false
You've already answered your question as leather is only offered on the NW pacakge. From looking over the various options for the various years, the leather option seems to almost always be the highest package for the 2004-2009 models.
You're in the SET region. I suspect (and it's a strong suspicion) that the leather is port-installed or dealer-installed. It's not factory installed (even if the leather is factory leather). How did I know? Well the door panels are still in cloth and the steering wheel isn't leather-wrapped.
