I drove my 2010 Prius for 6 trouble free years at an average of 51 mpg.
Last fall, I decided I wanted something with a bit less road noise and better seats. I considered a Lexus model, but have no dealers in the state of ND, nor could I find an Avelon hybrid model that I liked.
We checked the Lincoln dealer who had a ruby red with black leather MKZ hybrid with a good year end price. The Lincoln MKZ hybrid is pretty much just a Ford Fusion Hybrid dressed in a tuxedo. We only drove it 4,000 miles last fall before parking it inside away from winter ice, snow, salt, but enjoy the very quiet soft ride and wonderful leather seats. The extra sound insulation and electronic noise suppression system make it very quiet, as it should be for that much more money than the Prius.
I miss my Prius liftbacks cargo room and 50+ mpg, but the 1000 pound heavier MKZ(40mpg) that gives up 10 mpg to the Prius. So far we are happy with our choice, we gave up some fuel economy for more creature comfort, now to see if the Ford product can get close to the reliability of a Toyota Hybrid.Interact
