Nitrogen is free when you purchase tires at Costco . It is the only inflation type that they use. I find a difference. Perhaps all in my head but I do understand that the Nitro does not contain water, thus no buildup pressure as the tires heat up or on long trips. and is less effected by temperature change. The Nitrgen fill gives me the impression that the tires have less flexability but remain firm while cornering.

I found out yesterday when I brought the car in to have all the body protective devices applied that the dealer puts nitrogen in all the cars that come in (without asking the customer first); kind of like a "dealer pack." There was usually a dealer charge of $40 that showed up on the invoice but since my car was sold to me before it even arrived at the dealer, they put the nitrogen in the tires but I was not charged.

They say there is no charge for refilling them or maintaining the nitrogen in the tires for the life of the car as long as I bring it back to them. I think this nitrogen thing is a big hoax anyway but since it was already done, I'll keep what I have.
