Back in a hybrid this weekend. Could not find a Toyota hybrid not insanely marked up in my area. 21 Escape not the PHEV. Loving it.

I guess my question is. My car could be running normal but I don’t know what coolant lines should be hot etc. How do I check to ensure the coolant system is doing it job and I routed it correctly. I’m a noob I know

The first thing that I suggest is get either a “hybrid aware” scan tool or an ELM327 that you can plug into the diagnostic port. That will allow you the ability to monitor coolant temps thru the live data output to the diagnostic connector. If your highest coolant temp is 203F or below, the fans kick on and off, and you are not getting the temp light or a check hybrid system warning, you should be good to go.

Ok cool. Thanks for the help. My fan kicks on normally. I can hear the idle slightly change when I turn my interior heater fans up. I’m gonna use my heat scan gun this weekend to check the hoses. I noticed the small hoses to the throttle body get hot the quickest and stay that way. It doesn’t fluctuate.

Funny but not funny. NASCAR Number 43 has a RTOD on his instrument cluster. Pretty funny that they chose to use that symbol.

Pulled EGR cooler for inspection/cleaning. I am leaving the bottom stud/nut off this time. It took longer to remove then the rest of job.

224k on car. 11k post swap. 2100 mile post oil change. It still looks like the oil is brand new. No issues.

So a friend, who has been a “Prius Hater” from the day I got mine, is now looking for one for his 18 yo daughter. #Priusconverter #winning

Filled up today. 19.6 miles in, showing 66.7 mpg on the guess-o-meter. Going to try for 700 mpt this tank.

5200 miles on oil, no measured usage. Looks like March and September will be my oil change months as long as I have my Prius.

I feel like a rebel, I have driven 200 miles past the illumination of “Oil Maintenance Required”. Going to tackle that tomorrow or Friday.

The “oil maintenance required soon” message is now illuminated. The oil looks clean as a whistle and it is still full. Almost 8k post swap.

It’s been 2100 mile since last oil change. No measurable oil usage. Mid to high 40’s mpg. Nothing significant to report.

Finally the oil is “dirty” enough to see on the stick. 2800 miles and it’s still full.

I still have to wrap a paper towel around dipstick to check the oil. Too clean to see on the dipstick!
