Hi OzMatt, how is the EGR going following your hot butter knife fix ? i have similar issue with 2012 Prius C 110k, was thinking of building it up with Superglue and bicarb, thoughts ?
Hi Stevie it only lasted a few hundred km and failed again so I replaced the magnet, they are the same on 50 series Camry Hybrids. I think what really happens is the plastic thread inside the magnet where it screws down on the stem of the valve gets flogged out and sloppy with age so its virtually impossible to rescue the magnet once this happens
hmmmm thanks for replying i'm assuming the thread is ok, and the "ski jump" is the issue, is the part available separately for the Camry ? random thought , wonder if you could use plumbers ptfe tape to build up the thread ....
