Replaced another poor quality body shops CHEAP condenser, leaking from many places on the cooling tubes . There was trace dye added to the refrigerant but no UV DYE showed using the UV light and no oil spots showed from were the leaks were. The the after market condenser that was installed had many fewer cooling tubes and two fewer cooling fins per inch. It a/c cooled just fine on a cool day here in San Francisco 40F out the dash but the high side pressure was jumping between 141 PSI and 174 PSI. In this photo you see after the new OE DENSO condenser was installed the high side PRESSURE DROPPED back to normal around 100PSI for a cool day in the mid 60's. In this case the mom passed the car down to here daughter and the daughter ends up paying the bill for what the insurance company call a economy part, the customer never knows but pays the price later. ( 2006 Prius photo 1 of 2 ). PS. 90% of TECHs at shops will never know that the 141 PSI -174 PSI was abnormal with the dash duct TEMP of 40F ! this causes many other expensive problems for the customer down the road to $$$.
